WE CAME FROM RHODES AND HE COULDN'T EVEN WALK. YOU MADE HIM BETTER
The therapy department is awesome! They helped me to get better again. The staff are kind and caring. The place is kept clean and I felt like i really mattered
Don't know about the treatment, but they must have been very busy this morning. I had to wait for 7 1/2 minutes asking to speak to a patient, then a little more than four more minutes for tem to come back on and ask who I was waiting for, and ask if they could leave a message. I didn't want to leave a message, I wanted to talk with the patient.
My husband was there for four months, I really appreciated the care he received, I felt like they looked after him - his wound care was good, and they monitored his kidneys too. If we ever needed care again, I would take my husband there again.
PLEASE IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR NURSING LICENSE RUN!! RUN!!! RUN!!!!! FROM THIS HOSPITAL. PATIENTS RATIO ARE DANGEROUSLY HIGH FOR A VENTILATOR UNITS. 20 PTS. TO ONE NURSE AND ONE RT FOR 60 PTS.
BRAND NEW RNS ARE CHARGE NURSES!!! UNSAFE FOR PTS, AND NURSES!!!
Horrible! Once upon a time this place was fantastic but through a series of administrative changes and poor budget spending it has gone downhill quickly.
Symphony of Mesa KILLS, quality of care is absolutely bad. My sister was over medicated to the point she had to go to the hospital. My big sister did not get changed as needed,my sister did not get showers their excuse was, we give them showers twice a week. NOT TRUE!!! They did NOT change her bedding for weeks. I would go see her and the same food would be on the floor and on the side of her!!! . Their under staffed causing care to be horrible. When I would call I would be on hold for 30 minutes or they would hang up on me so many times I can't even count. My sister was miss treated yelled at her belongings went missing her money as well, name it and when we would ask they said, they did not know. Their was more then tooo many times when they had to put her in her chair the staff almost dropped her, staff cuts corners putting two briefs and five pads under patients to allow patients to sit in their feaces so they don't have to do bed changes. The place is disgusting. When you go in their the smell is so bad all you smell is piss. Food is slop, would never recommend anyone to go there. Very few nurses give a shit about their patients. Patients get bedsores from not being turned when needed. My sister had so many surgery's because of the bedsores, all because they where to busy to turn her. All around A dump think twice before putting a family member there. My sister was 38 years old she went into this facility because she could not walk not longer that was it! She left with Cirrhosis of the Liver, double Pneumonia, Congenital Heart Disease and a lot more medical problems. My Angel was there for about 7 years. Her health problems we're really always hidden from me! Not until she got double Pneumonia this is a lung infection that can make you very sick she was drowning because her lungs were full of fluid . This place said to us she was fine! We said she needed to go to the hospital and they said she is OK! We went back and forth with the nurse asking her to call 911. They refused till we said we will call. Then they called. We got her to the hospital and the doctor checked her from head to toe. The doctor said if we wouldn't have made them call she would have died that night. Sad to say we had our Angel with us for less then a week and she passed away. PLEASE STAY FAR AWAY FROM SYMPHONY OF MESA AZ. Off of Broadway Rd. I miss my big sister very much and I will never see her, hear her laugh, get to talk on the phone late at night till I get to Heaven and then we will be together again. If you have a loved one that was miss treated or died because of SYMPHONY OF MESA AZ. PLEASE join me a loving little sister with my signs in front of this horrible place on Friday August 1, 2014. If it was a parent, grandparent, child ,brother or YOUR sister. please join me to make everyone know what they have done. Just make your sign and join me. From a little sister that wants Justice thank you and God Bless all of you.
If I could I would rate this place a zero. They treated my Father horribly. He wasn't able to walk and ended up in diapers there, which they did not change which left my father with a horrible chapped bottom. Didn't bath him, brush his teeth or put deodorant on him. We would come in and find him in filthy clothes or clothes that didn't belong to him. Then they lost one of his hearing aids. The nurses were horribly rude to him. We came in once to find him in his wheel chair calling out for help and pressing the nurse’s button. We had to complain to get assistance. Somehow his wrist was hurt but no one knows how and he is also leaving with ulcers on his foot. I could go on and on. The disrespect of the human race and dignity is intolerable. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Thank God he is gone and can start being treated like a human being again. I am very upset at how they treated my father. I don't even want to think about how they treated him when we weren't there. When we interviewed it seemed like a really good place, not so. He was only here long enough for us to find a reputable assisted living facility.
My mom spent a month with you for treatment for colitis. And copd. You sent her to a rehab fairly because you said she was better, even though she still wasnt eating. That was two weeks ago…….. My mom has a few days left to live…. Thanks for nothing
I feel that one star is way to much for this place!! clothes and personal items are always missing!! i suspect a thief! also the nurse practitioners dont really respond to the patients needs!! my dad had a chronic uti for months and was told an appointment would be made!! here it is going on almost 2 months! call lights are not answered on time! some cna's talk down to residents as if its a chore to help them! thats what they are paid to do is help patients! urinals are left out in the open and no attempt was made to empty it! my father was almost given the wrong medicine!! he actually almost swallowed it till the nurse ran in and said spit it out!! who knows what those pills were?? when state came they came in early before state arrived and made sure that all things were clean and that the more vocal patients who would complain were kept in there rooms and away from state people!! this place is pretty bad!! the two administrators are but kids themselves! they have games every week for the employees! which is ridiculous cause that time and money spent could be used on new employees and patient care not dress like a clown day!! my father is glad he is not a patient there anymore and he feels that if he stayed longer his health would have failed simply because of lack of staff and patient care!! dont send your loved ones there!!
Restora Hospital of Mesa is a VERY unsafe nursing home because their patients DO NOT get the care or attention they need. Why? Because they are clearly understaffed. You can sit in a room for hours waiting for someone to answer your call bell. When my family member was there I noticed that there was only one nurse per unit. ONE NURSE. You can tell just by looking at their whiteboard just how many patients that nurse had. What care could I expect my loved one to have when ONE NURSE has 19 other patients? What kind of people are in management to allow this? Why don't they make themselves available to HELP their staff? Restora is AWFUL and a very depressing place to be. If you want to get well and get adequate care do not allow yourself or anyone you care about to be placed here.
Great care and great people.
Older nursing care center with overall good staff.my mother stayed for 6 night rehab after a knee surgery.
Can I rate negative stars? My father was sent to Mesa Christian Care directly from the hospital for rehab. He went from a weak man who needed to get stronger, directly to hospice. He is now near-death and although he did have a leaky valve in his heart he was sitting up and talking in the hospital before he was admitted there. I was against that from the get-go, and told them he was declining daily. He was vomiting food and medicine and the nurses were not aware. (He is bedridden people) how can they not be aware. After asking for anti-nausea meds, he finally got them in the middle of the night. The nurse admitted to me in the morning that they should have held off til before breakfast as the medicine had worn off by the time they fed him again and more vomiting. I'm not a nurse, its just common sense. There is no communication between staff there, no one knows what is going on with the patients. I could not get questions answered.
Staff were for the most part friendly and pleasant Just incompetence running rampant. I truly blame his demise on them. I have no experience with nursing homes, maybe they are all like this. Very sad for the people who have to go there.
I spent one day at this nursing home not as a resident or employee lets just say i was visiting. In the ten hours i was their i witnessed everything from the death of a patient, another being escorted out in an ambulance to a hospital with a quickly declining state of health. and another person i could hear yelling from their room for help for what seemed like forever while two of the male nurses stood around and seemed to be joking about it. I witnessed another resident walk past me several times in soiled clothes that did not get changed the entire time i was there. Overall i would not wish these so called services on my worst enemy. I witnessed zero compassion just snotty staff that doesnt care. If you love your family members this is not somewhere you should send them.
The care is neglectful here. I'm a nurse and I can tell you there are too many problems to list. My mother is in very bad shape. She was supposed to het better. Don't send your loved one here.
My mother was sent to Desert Blossom for rehabilitation after having surgery on a lower extremity and is also a cardiac patient. The facility did not follow her diet, being a cardiac patient she required a low sodium diet, she was served a meal that was high in sodium. This was not a single incident. When she requested a different meal to follow her diet, she still did not receive a low sodium diet, and the staff was not pleasant. This happened every meal. Meals were late. She required pain medications and did not receive them on time. She had buzzed for her nurse to remind them of her pain medication and she had no one come in and had been waiting for 15 minutes and 15 more until a family member came and brought the problem up. Needless to say, she was in tears from pain. The 'therapist' came in and started therapy on her arms and she was trying to tell him she needed therapy on her leg not her arm. He continued without listening. The therapist also wanted her to stand on her own and walk all the way to the PT room, even after she said I had major surgery and was instructed not to walk without aid. Eventually the therapist put her in a wheelchair. They also left her in a sitting position for an hour, where her leg should have been elevated to avoid bleeding, which happened and was already anemic. She bleed through her bandage. Finally someone came but they proceeded to bring her pain meds on an empty stomach. She ended up leaving, she had had enough. No one should stay at a place where the staff does not know enough to take care of you adequately. They did not show compassion or enough interest in patient care.
My Dad developed C Diff from the nurses not washing their hands or wearing gloves…unacceptable!! I asked then many times to wear gloves, and their response was "It's for our protection from the patients". I should have insisted each and every time, but trusted that they knew what they were doing…never again!!!!
If you have a choice go elsewhere. My uncle needed to go to rehab after a surgery. We expect 1 - 2 weeks.
Here are my comments on the facility -
Sheets were discolored and dirty
No mattress pads - just a thin sheet over a plastic bed mattress
Paint was peeling from various walls
The room looked clean but general facility maintenance lacked, ie the in room AC unit was noticably dirty, years of dirt could be seen in the vents.
Paint color is brown and very drab and depressing
The in room lighting is non existent, there are two florescent lights that have metal pull strings tied to each bed so the patient can turn on the light or not - looks like only 1 bulb in the light as it was dim.
Employees wear jeans! one of the nurse assistants bent over and I saw more of his underwear than his jeans!
Bathroom towel rack was missing just the wall attachments for the bar were there but no bar.
No coathangers in small wardrobe
Call light help button is not visible to the patient easily so they know if they actually hit the call light button
Physical therapy is way overburdened with patients
Bathtime you need to fight to get a bathtime slot if you cant bath yourself
And the most important aspect of all - the Case Worker assigned to my Uncle has failed to call me after two attempts to discuss care and discharge plans
you all are so Kind, caring and loving. Thank you so very much for helping Bill recognize his "Honey" on the special Hearts Day. I appreciate so very much what you did which made me so very happy. God Bless you all for your good deed!!
My Father stayed at Symphony of Mesa. Overall it was a good experience, but One thing was they lost my Fathers dentures in the process of his transfer to a group home and did not seem to care that it happened. They did not respond to my calls regarding that indecent.
1 star is really too much. Someone should ask the residents and not just read what is in the log, as the nurses really do konw how to cover thier butts.
Mesa Christian was a great place for my grandma to stay. My grandma stayed for about six months. Everyone was very helpful. The aides were very helpful as well as the nurses that were on the unit. The kitchen was very helpful for my grandma as she had a special diet she needed to follow and they accomadated to her needs. James and Kyle in the kitchen were both very helpful to her as she did not like one of the meals they were serving and he substituted it with one of the best chef salads she says she has ever had. I would recommend this facility to those families who can no longer care for their loved ones.
The staff to patient ratio is very low. The nurses aides are very friendly and do a great job, but there are not enough of them to adequately care for the patients. There is one aide for every 10 - 12 clients, so the clients only get changed 3 - 4 times a day on a specific schedule. Also, meds are not given on time. They are 1/2 to an hour late, and that's a long time to wait when someone is in pain. Lights are not answered in a timely manner due to the shortage of help, and the nurses don't answer the lights or respond if someone calls for help to go to the bathroom. The nurses seem oblivious to what is going on around them, and they pretty much stay put at the nurse's station instead of helping with the patients. Everything except passing out meds is on the aides. Special diets are only followed for a few days to a week. Then the kitchen has to be reminded about the special diet again. Although the hallways are lovely, the rooms are not. They are dirty. The rehab side of the facility may be better, but the long-term care side is not good.
