Review of Desert Blossom Health & Rehab Center

1 Star User Review

The staff to patient ratio is very low. The nurses aides are very friendly and do a great job, but there are not enough of them to adequately care for the patients. There is one aide for every 10 - 12 clients, so the clients only get changed 3 - 4 times a day on a specific schedule. Also, meds are not given on time. They are 1/2 to an hour late, and that's a long time to wait when someone is in pain. Lights are not answered in a timely manner due to the shortage of help, and the nurses don't answer the lights or respond if someone calls for help to go to the bathroom. The nurses seem oblivious to what is going on around them, and they pretty much stay put at the nurse's station instead of helping with the patients. Everything except passing out meds is on the aides. Special diets are only followed for a few days to a week. Then the kitchen has to be reminded about the special diet again. Although the hallways are lovely, the rooms are not. They are dirty. The rehab side of the facility may be better, but the long-term care side is not good.
