the nursing aides that acturally do the work and help and care about the welfare of your loved one is super. Upper management ( Administrator, Don, Social Service), is totally useless and care more about their position and salary held than the people they are suppose to represent and support. They say if you want results, go to the top…Forget it. They only try to correct the problem if State complaints or the Ombuseman is involved. Only then do they react. They will tell you anything and do nothing. As a nurse who has worked the nursing home as well as hospitals for over 40 years, I know the ropes, I know how to write up plan of corrections to pass State inspections, I know that staff is notified that "State is in the building". Everyone goes into action. All of a sudden, management is out on the floor helping, answering call lights, and delivering food still warm. In other words, your loved one is taken care of for the 8 hours State is there. As soon as they leave, management leaves. Your Mother, Father, Uncle, Aunt, Niece, Nephew or anyone you cared about should be taken care of on a daily basis just because.. You expect this, somebody is paying for their help. Think twice about going to Patriot Ridge, go on line and research State surveys, complaints,.. I have no objections to the caregiver staff. They do and care, and often connect on a familiar bases with the one they follow. It is not out of obligation, it is out of genuine empathy for giving the best care in your absence.

Should've listened to the reviews below. I was sent there as no other option cuz of my short term needs.

Positives: Administration staff was great. Really knew how to treat its consumers and generally be nice to people. I'm talking about the managers of therapy, the dietitian, the director of the whole facility, etc. The therapy dept was great too. Really helpful, explaining things beforehand, and encouraging. A few CNA were great…really enjoyed their jobs.

Negatives: I'll try to cut it short cuz there's so much to list.

-Response time to call buttons was a joke. I don't even know why they have call buttons. One time it took 1.5 hours to get pain meds cuz the nurse (the only person allowed to give meds) was busy and no one answered my call button.

-Nurses were rude and acted like I was a thorn in their side. One nurse, in particular, seemed to hate her job and I hated it when she was on duty.

-My room was tiny…and had to fit two people in it.

-Nothing was explained beforehand…didn't know til 2 days in, that I had choices concerning food, shower times, activities, etc.

I requested to leave early, cuz I couldn't stand it, and they actually started a verbal fight with me as to whether I could leave or not! Then they dragged their feet in getting paperwork ready for me to leave. Ugh! NEVER AGAIN!

My family member went to stay at Liberty of Jamestown, while she was there for rehabilitation, a number of different things were found disturbing. Her call light for cares and pain medications were continuously ignored. It would take over a half an hour to get an aid to come to answer light. She requested a snack and was told that they had nothing to offer, because the kitchen locks up all food until the next day. I and my husband, literally had to go every other day to provide her with items to eat. We did not care to much to do this, but for the money we payed as a co-pay should have given her some rights.

She stated that she would see people just sitting in wheelchairs for hours up in the front lobby, everyone just walked on by, even if cares were necessary. My family members and I were there, we witnessed many distressful situations among the staff and other care providers. It was like the right hand had no idea what the left hand was doing. The way that the administration treats the staff of nurses, was appalling. Definite lack of communication. Thank you, Lord, we are free of this institution and will recommend all be wary upon entering…….!

I give Heartland 2 out of 5 ONLY because of the caring staff. This includes everyone who took care of my mother, except the Wound Team. This team consisted of 3 incompetent women who continually prodded, probed, and took pictures, but then did nothing. They made suggestions, asked for information, but did nothing. Due to this my mother lost one of her toes!!!! We moved her to Sycamore Glen, a fantastic place!

I agree with a previous post, this facility is obviously a for profit organization. The place is in dire need of a facelift. The ventilation needs work, new carpet/flooring, a coat of paint, and 3 to a room is really tight. Especially if family is there. They are grossly understaffed; I really feel for them. But in this economy they need their jobs, and work hard to keep them. The worst part is the food and management of it. Not the direct food service staff, but the funding and rules around it. I had to supply my mother with fresh fruit as they would constantly run out.

This facility is another one that suffers due to corporate rules and regulations. I wish these men and women in suits would have to see their own loved ones live in this terrible environment. I commend the staff for doing the best with what they have, but regret that I would never recommend anyone place a loved one at Heartland of Beavercreek.

Obviously a for profit organization. 2 aids for 18 people? My mother has been there for two weeks and day after day she gets left on the toilet for 20/25 minutes. If one of the aids call in sick one aid gets to care for 18 people. Must be under new management as her last stay was not like this at all. If you are not local to watch after them I would NOT put my loved one in this home!
