Very nice facility top notch staff is very friendly
As I type this my Motherinlaw was rushed to the hospital now being x-rayed after her falling out of bed in their rehab division this morning. They say it happened because they were changed shifts. They know she has dementia, they know she has to be watched and the irony of the whole thing is that she was admitted to their facility due to a fall (no broken bones) at home. They were suppose to be getting her to be a little steadier on her feet. Now they add to situation by letting her climb out of a bed. Someone has to answer for this. So is it a good place?? You tell me.
Horrible place never going back family thought it was nice then I declined and got moved back home GOD Bless!
Mom lived at the dimensia assisted living section. She was unsupervised due to lack of staff, allowed to wander off during meals, and finally was being sent to the nursing home section. I intervened and moved her to another assisted living facility. I was disgusted to see an elderly woman not eating nor drinking for a complete day and the answer was to send her to another section.
I was not listened to by administration when I spoke to them, NUMEROUS TIMES.
Mom is now happy, healthy and well taken care of in another facility.
Barnegat nursing and rehabilitation, may not be the prettiest, but the staff there is wonderful. My parent has been there for at least 5 yrs. and the only complaint is the food. It is not homemade and it hard to please everyone, but they try. This facility is extremely clean and no matter what time you walk in there you never smell anything. Nothing is perfect but my parent is well cared for and the staff does the best they can even though they are a little short handed right now. I would and have recommend this nursing home to anyone who needs one. I have been in other homes in Ocean a County and to me Barnegat is the best.
This facility is run down. The furniture is old and mismatched. Cracks in the ceilings and window sills. The carpeting is old and worn. Bartley really needs to be renovated from top to bottom. The hallways are always cluttered with wheelchairs, hampers, and carts with cleaning items. The nurses and cna's are very nice and courteous and my loved one has not any complaints about them. Like I stated above, it needs a complete make-over, it needs to be more inviting.
This is an awful place. Patients are left in pain, denied medication and the nursing staff does not care at all if a person is in need or distress. If you go to the administration to voice your complaint or concerns, your loved one is retaliated against by the majority of the staff. The staff members who are fair and kind, are fearful of their coworkers. It is a lose lose situation all around.
My father has been in this nursing home for 2 years now, For the first year it was really great, but for past year it has been slowly going down hill. the room smells so bad that I take a can of fedreze me, the sheets are dirty, ( shit is on the sheets that is why the room smells). He has his own blanket on the bed
I take it home to wash it, I took the blanket of the bed, the sheets were dirty, the bed had crumb in it like sand, I don't know when the sheet were last changed. The floor is dirty, there were ants in room.
The bathroom smells and the floor is dirty, the is shit on the walls. it has been like this every time visit. My mother called and talk to someone about, (because I was told by a nurse to do that). I was fine
for a few weeks, but it is back to the way it was.
Do not let the rating persuade you. Find out for yourself. You see My father was formerly in Arbors of Toms River. We paid this better rated facility privately and the place was expensive. But my father complained about Arbors constantly complaining they would not take him out of the bed till lunchtime. And soon Arbors complained about him with their social worker, who we did not like, recommending he get transferred to their sister facility that handles dementia patients. We balked at the idea and you know what weeks later we received a call that my father, a stroke victim who couldn't walk and had no use of one side wanted to kill himself. Of course he was transferred to the hospital. Unfortunately, he went downhill from there. He got very sick and eventually could only eat with a breathing tube. When he was deemed ready to be transferred to the nursing home, Arbors would not take him back. But you know what? That was the best thing that happened. There were some homes that would take him, but only with private pay. But Shore Meadows took him and accepted Medicare which he was eligible for in the new year. This poorly rated facility treated our father much better than the supposed higher rated facility of Arbors. He never complained and based on observation they were always kind and patient. The social worker at Shore Meadows was a thousand times better than Arbors as well. But my fathers condition worsened and he required Hospice. They recommended Grace hospice, and they too were excellent. My father did pass away. But we were happy knowing at least he was in a facility that were compassionate and patient.
So please do not let Shore Meadows poor rating sway you. See for yourself. If you pay privately, they are much cheaper than a lot of the other places. But as far as care is concerned, and based on how they treated our father, they are just as good if not better than the other nursing homes.
My family member was just put here by her doctor. I must say I was a bit concerned not knowing too much about this facility and not really done enough research on them. However I can't stop praising this nursing home! Everyone from the nurses to the office staff is so kind and caring. Each aide really tried to make her comfortable and constantly asked how they can be of assistance. The rehab team seemed professional and experienced and got her back on her feet even sooner than the doctor had predicted. All in all we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking into a nursing and rehab facility!!!
Very unorganized environment. Patient service is the least priority from my dealings Patients are left in rooms all day with out any effort to encourage them to take part in the limited activities. Meal are mostly feed in room as staff does not want to have to get them to the dining area. Buzzer are not responded to in a timely manner. They give pills out like candy instead of finding what the problem is, I would not recommend this facility unless you can be with your love one nonstop.
Our Mom entered Leisure Park as a Assisted Living resident. Due to her failing health she is now in the Skilled Nursing . The Social Services department is absolutely useless, there is no communication to her family. She is spending down and will need Medicaid , the Social Service Director offered no assistance and we are trying to do it all alone. Look for another facility where the Social Services dept. actually assists the family!
Worst nursing home facility I have ever come across. The residents are filthy and the employees are overworked. The food is awful,
If your loved one needs medical care this is NOT the place! There are no "real" doctors on staff and the one that shows up on occasion is awful. Stay away!
I have been dealing with a bill from the ER sense February. They refuse to bill my insurance company under the correct social. My insurance company has told me they have not submitted the bill correctly while the hospital keeps telling me they did. I know they are lying because when I call to hear my balance I have to use the wrong social to hear it. Its now mid November and I am still calling them to fix this.
Unfortunately, my mother was placed here by her doctor. Then I couldn't get her out. I had the displeasure of meeting the so-called administrator, a rather repulsive thing called Annette Nielsen, whose appearance strongly suggests the female impersonator that Archie Bunker famously gave mouth-to-mouth to on All in the Family and whose only skill appears to be talking to people in a pompous condescending tone which is meant to convey “authority”. She was also fond of repeating insipid catchphrases like 'It's all about caring for people!' The kind of banal public official people recognize instantly and immediately dislike. It's failure – with an attitude. At no time did i sign any piece of paper committing my mother to this dump, yet I was billed $4,000 for their crummy services. When I dared to complain about their sleazy business practices,, the donut queen said, in her customary snotty tone, 'then we'll evict your mother.' Then I enjoyed more sleazy tactics when some ugly little troll named Shirley threatened me for the money. I paid the blackmail. In retrospect I should have gone to the police, but at the time I feared my mother was in real danger. As if that weren't enough, I was told privately by someone inside the facility not to bring my mother any expensive gifts, because theft among the employees runs rampant throughout the place. All told, I got stuck for 4250,000 in unwanted services that I never agreed to. My mother died there after a fall. I received no condolences or even acknowledgement of her death from them, although I did receive another bill. This is the most disreputable business I have ever seen in my life. To anyone who reads this, I hope you will not place a loved one inside Felonview Crime Center, and as for that fat pompous cow, I hope he/she gets cancer. And let's make it the type that lingers for about ten years so that she's wracked with constant pain. I can't tell you how much I would enjoy that.
Admim staff was very helpful but that is where it ends! Aids are rude, dining area is dirty and if residents need assistance there is no one to be found or your are bothering them. I moved my family member out as soon as I could. If you have to have your loved one in this facility please visit them often so you know that they are being taken care of. I was very disapointed.
We had our 2 grandmothers and uncle at Bartley at different times. The staff was compassionate and caring and that was very important to us. It was a relief knowing each were in the best hands.
My husband just finished his rehab at Aristacare at Whiting and had a terrific experience. I would like to thank all the staff from the bottom of my heart. I have no idea what I would have done if not for their entire dedicated team of such caring professionals! Thank you thank you thank you!
P.s. please send my best to the 1 East staff!
My Dad was at Bartley, first for Rehab from a broken hip and later for care for his CHF until his end of life. The staff was wonderful and caring. They showed genuine concern for Dad and his needs. From nurses and cna's to the therapists to the maintenance department, activities and food service department to the management, all were very responsive to his needs and very caring. It is not an easy job to care for the sick and elderly and also attend to the family's needs with so many emotions going on. Bartley and hospice treated Dad with dignity and helped him to be most comfortable in his last days of life.
I have to say, I have herd many nightmare stories about long term care facilities. But when I walked into Bartley for the first time to visit my Mother, I was very impressed with the staff and how clean everything was. I knew that Bartley was the right place for my Mom when she told me how happy she was there and how well the staff took care of her. I would like to Thank Bartley for the care they gave my Mother in the last few months of her life.
This place is a dump. Keep the people you love away from this place. The only helpful people are the aids. The nurses are not suitable, the food is unhealthy, and they are not attentive to the needs of their patients.
I must reply regarding the care rendered at Bartley Healthcare, as my experience with my mom was very good. The compassion and caring given to her after she suffered a major stroke was exemplary. Therapists, nurses, CNAs, dietary staff and everyone else we came in contact with did all they could to improve her function, and when it became apparent that she would not recover, shfted into providing the highest quality of life possible in her last days. This care also extended to other members of my family, and we were all comforted by their actions and their words. Bartley staff are good people doing a difficult job.
I am also very surprised at the negative reviews Bartley has received on this site? My father was a patient on their subacute unit late last year. He was treated extremely well and we only have high praise for all of the staff that took care of him. Dad was admitted there following open heart surgery and through the compassion and caring of the nursing and rehab staff he was pain free and on his way to a full recovery in no time at all. He returned home and is still doing great.
Great place. I went to visit my friend there and everyone was so nice and helpful. the food was great and my friend said she got great care from the Nursing and Therapy staff.
