Review of Shore Meadows Rehab & Nursing Center

5 Star User Review

Do not let the rating persuade you. Find out for yourself. You see My father was formerly in Arbors of Toms River. We paid this better rated facility privately and the place was expensive. But my father complained about Arbors constantly complaining they would not take him out of the bed till lunchtime. And soon Arbors complained about him with their social worker, who we did not like, recommending he get transferred to their sister facility that handles dementia patients. We balked at the idea and you know what weeks later we received a call that my father, a stroke victim who couldn't walk and had no use of one side wanted to kill himself. Of course he was transferred to the hospital. Unfortunately, he went downhill from there. He got very sick and eventually could only eat with a breathing tube. When he was deemed ready to be transferred to the nursing home, Arbors would not take him back. But you know what? That was the best thing that happened. There were some homes that would take him, but only with private pay. But Shore Meadows took him and accepted Medicare which he was eligible for in the new year. This poorly rated facility treated our father much better than the supposed higher rated facility of Arbors. He never complained and based on observation they were always kind and patient. The social worker at Shore Meadows was a thousand times better than Arbors as well. But my fathers condition worsened and he required Hospice. They recommended Grace hospice, and they too were excellent. My father did pass away. But we were happy knowing at least he was in a facility that were compassionate and patient.

So please do not let Shore Meadows poor rating sway you. See for yourself. If you pay privately, they are much cheaper than a lot of the other places. But as far as care is concerned, and based on how they treated our father, they are just as good if not better than the other nursing homes.
