Over a year ago, my mother was going in the right direction as much as she could given her condition. With the overall change in management, I feel they failed her. And not because family wasn't present. Someone was there at least 5 out of 7 days. The aides for the most part were good to her. The highest paid nurses in the building are 100% horrible. If your loved one can't speak for themselves, this is not the place for them.
I have a very close friend who went to Indian Springs for Physical Rehab.. She is in a wheelchair and requires assistance with all ADLs. Though she is capable of using the restroom, every time I visited her she needed her clothes to be changed. When she, or we called for assistance by pressing the button provided to her, no one would show up. I would have to ask numerous times before an aide arrived to help her. The last time I visited her, she needed help changing again. I mentioned this to nurses and aides. They stated that they would be there to help but never came. We went to her room to wait. We pressed her button, but no one arrived. Her room smelled terrible. I found an aid who finally came to her room. The Aide picked up a piece of clothing and noticed that there was feces on the floor. She said she was going to find disinfectant. Another 15 minutes passed and the Aide did not return. I went to the nursing office. The nurse in the office stated that the Aide was just there looking for Clorox wipes. When I mentioned that my friend was still waiting to be changed after an hour and that there is feces on the floor of her room, the nurse stated, "I'm not her nurse today". I caught up with the aide in the hallway. She stated that she was getting Clorox wipes and would be there soon. She finally came to the room, helped my friend clean up and then left without cleaning up the feces. This aide never returned. I finally caught up with another aide who helped clean up. This was the most degrading experience for my friend. I am appalled by the lack of dignity and respect. On top of this, my friend struggles cognitively and has been attempting to get out of her wheelchair/bed without help. Without supervision, she would have attempted to get up, and slipped on the feces by her bed. She has Osteoporosis and is prone to fractures. This was a sad and inhumane situation
Do NOT send your loved ones to this facility. The staff is high turnover. They NEVER read the charts. They NEVER have enough or quality food. It’s all about The bottom line. There is only a few nurses or aides that give a damn. Residents are afraid. Residents are expected to eat without having teeth in because the staff fails to notice or track them down.
Even employees who used to work there say it’s a horrible place. Just read those reviews.
If you want you loved one to have multiple bruises and open wounds with no explanation. Or eat like a bird. Or never have water to drink on there rooms EXCEPT for a tiny plastic cup - then send them here. But for $10k a month, I wouldn’t trust them with my pet.
Administration is only concerned about covering their ass verses providing quality care to residents.
today they have only one person in kitchen to make food for 60+ people. ridiculous. they can't say when dinner will be provided.
Horrible facility residents pay 10,000 a month only allowed 6briefs a day otherwise family has to pay extra for briefs care is substandard I wouldn't put a dog in this place. Owner visits dressed in designer suits expensive jewelry all made off of neglecting the elderly pitiful
I would not put my dog here understaffed except when states there residents do not get care they pay for find another nursing home
Care of my family member was very poor. They were very interested in performing and billing for therapies he did not need and did not benefit from. The place is understaffed and patient needs are not addressed. Every time I went there, my father was begging me to get him something to drink. They were negligent in his care and did not follow through on care needs requested. They were next to impossible to contact and you had to be there to speak to anyone. They always had an excuse and would lie to your face. Many of the staff don't care about the residents or their jobs. Turn-over is excessive. This used to be a good place under Mercy, but under Diversicare it has gone dramatically down hill.
I live here and love it!
I have been living at Montgomery Care for 3 years and have no regrets moving here. My daughter found this place for me on the internet and I'm so glad she did. I was in another facility prior to this facility and the staff here is much more caring and loving.
We visited the facility before we admitted our mother. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere appeared to be pleasant and clean. We were happy with the appearance. She was being admitted for rehab from a fall down 15steps. She is 83years old. She had a deep laceration on her shin and a broken ankle. She was to put NO weight on it. there was trouble swallowing so she was on a nectar diet.
There were several problems right away. The staffing that came into the room, including the nurses were clueless as to what the status was of their patients. Her leg was to be cleaned three times a day and that did not happen. We were lucky it got cleaned once a day. The diet was always wrong. Staff gave her regular water and it would cause her to choke. If she needed help she would ring the help button. It could take an hour or more to answer(I was actually there and timed them). One weekend my sister arrived in the AM to find a very distinctive smell throughout the facility. Urine. Our mother was soaked with urine along with all bed clothes. Come to find out all residents were. The night staffing either was not there or never responded to calls. It was terrible. We had family consultations with the facility and addressed our concerns and was assured it would be taken care of and never was. We actually started investigating other facilities to move her but nothing was available. I would not recommend this facility to anyone or at least make sure someone is there 24/7 with your family member and DEMAND the care they are to get. Basically, you have to be the patient advocate. It was Wayyyyyyy to expensive for the care they gave. I am sorry to write this review. It actually took a month to decide to write it but it needed to be done.
Please do your homework on this facility. I read many reviews and should of paid more attention to the care and not the facility itself. It is a new building and very clean which obviously is important since many residents are immune compromised. The on floor staff is caring and forms nice relationships with the residents. The issues arise when the family informs staff/management of health issues concerning their loved one and no action is taken. The lack of action leads to more serious issues for the resident/patient. Please be aware your loved ones Dr will more than likely not be allowed in the facility and is only seen by a Dr once a week for maybe 3 minutes. Which even impacted test results, medications being filled etc…
our son was a resident at salem woods for one year .the have the most skilled and compassionate care that you will ever find in our area. he had md and needed a significant amount of care. we were there a lot .nearly every day and observed the way that most all situations were handled.l would not hesitate to go there myself if the need arises.
Terrible! My father was there three days. They missed 2 out of 3 meals and gave him nothing to drink one of those days. They left him in bed for three straight days. The place is dirty and has an overwhelming smell of urine. Rooms are very small, shabby furniture. My fathers bed was small with no safety rails. The TV never worked despite multiple requests to fix it. No one answers the phone at all on the weekends. What more can I say!
Staff friendly, therapy department was wonderful. Facility is old but clean. Food is good. Allows smoking.
Toxic environment if you have integrity. Those who choose to do the right thing are at risk of harassment. If management would hold those accountable that do not do as they should, it would be a wonderful place. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be in the works. If your looking for a place to learn a few skills, maybe recommended, not a career place.
This facility was sold in October,2013 to Diversicare, a for profit company out of Brentwood, Tenn. Since that time the care has steadily gone down hill.
HORRIBLE! I can't even give it one star but had to to move forward with this review.
This is a horrible place. The staff is absolutely rude and everyone has the nastiest demeanor. The family's into consideration when dealing with their loved one. They are not familiar with the chart, and don't follow the what is to be administered. Patients that can't take care of themselves, are not turned, positioned, groomed, bathed properly. I hate this facility.
Both of my parents have been at the Cottages. They give wonderful personalized care.
My Father-in-law needed a place to go to recover after a recent hospitalization. Our family was very apprehensive because he is very independent and had never been in a nursing facility before. He received excellent care and the family was very happy. The nursing staff was very good and the therapy was great!
The aides and nurses do a great job, but they are low on staff with the aides on the floors. Not enough help. The Food their is Not the best. Gets served cold and no verity for the patients. New Management has come in and The workers are not as happy as in the past. Give it a fair rating, because the aides and therapy is great.
Admission marketing person makes it sound like a resort , lied about dining the meals are fattening so you dont lose weight ,however they mostly consist of processed food not balanced at all very few fresh fruit if any ,very little vegetables and those are canned would have to see to believe how bad and taste to know how bad . The housekeeping knows how to clean the middle of the floor . the staffing is horrible their is no one over the food , the milk is left out on a table to get warm , then unused cartons put back in frig . eggs dried up and over cooked ,brown on the bottom . out of many hings many times . call light - i have waited over an hour t get an answer . one nurse aide for 4 floors. No activities except some childish things many hrs to entertain self .many residents sleeping time away by themselves not knowing what to do The beauty shop is a joke . he mostly can be a barber at the very best Does not know how to do a womens hair include cut or style there is no eye dr. as was told . no dentist as was told . all in all its not a good place to be at all.
The place is a hole. Do not take your loved one here. Sub-par nurses, poor management. The food looks bad, the patients order out A LOT. The place is dirty and old. It smells horrible. The Director of Nursing is bias, and unfair. She allows nurses to make numerous medication errors, not do wound treatments and still have a job and fires the nurses who are intelligent and conscientious and really care and try to make a difference in the patients lives. The employees curse and use terrible language in the halls right in front of the patients.
If I could give them a zero star rating, I would.
