Review of Buena Vida Nursing and Rehab-San Antonio

1 Star User Review

This facility does not deserve one star. The facility smells of urine and the Director of Nursing, Mrs Washington, does not even understand medications, the diagnoses they are used to treat, and their side effects. Mrs Washington does not know how to communicate with people and has no interpersonal skills. She treated our family with no respect when our loved one who was a patient at the facility had a psychotic episode. She also tried to blame the family for the patient's episode instead of doing her job as the Director and properly evaluating the patient prior to admission. I do not recommend this facility or their staff for any one with a loved one in need.

yes i agree with your assessment. this place is horrible! i had to complain to the state about these people mistreating my elderly father. everytime i went to visit him his belongings were missing from his room. when i complained, i was chastised by the staff and told that he was lying to me and giving his things away to the other patients. i dont believe the staff at this facility and eventually had to transfer my father to a better place with much more caring and honest/ethical staff. these people and their director have no people skills and need to learn to have integrity, ethics, and communicate properly.

The Director does not do evaluations and that place is clean and smells good anytime I ever been there which is twice a week every week for the past three years. When I placed my brother there a lady came to visit us and it was not the director. But I have met the director and she is very nice and very pretty I have also spoken with her about my brother and there is nothing she don't know about his medications or diagnosis so I don't know what you are talking about. So if your love one had a psychotic episode chances are this was not the first time and will not be the last. I know for sure I do not want any patient with psych problems around my brother because they could hurt him or worst hurt a little old lady or something. I have a family member with psych problems and she was at Grayson and Mission Oaks, you should take your love one there and they will fit right in with the people there. They already told you that or had your loved one moved to protect others and that is the reason your mad. Right?

I am a volunteer at Buena Vida and you are wrong. It does not have a smell of urine or stool. It is a really clean and pleasant facility. The staff is very nice and attentative to the patients. My church group and I have beening going there for years and it just gets better and better. We were there when they celebrated that DON graduation. They had a huge party and a big write up in the paper about her obtaining a master degree in nursing and her doctorate in education. It is my understanding that she had 3 degrees before that. I have met her and she is one sharp lady. She is a no non-sense lady too. It appears that your love one was not a fit for there facility and should not have been there and as a retired therapist I can attest that there are times that families are aware of information and withhold it deliberately and that places their love one and everyone else love ones at risk. Your love one should have been in a geri-psych facility/hospital not at Buena Vida.
