Let's face it nursing homes are not fun. Nobody wants to be there. On the one hand, this place was dreadful in that there were a lot of older people that were sick and unable to function well. That would be sad no matter where. On the plus side, I found the staff attentive and kind. They were open to questions and often involved the supervisor to make sure that I was getting the right answer. Overall, I found the place to be clean. My mother, other than complaining about "shoe leather" lunch, was overall complimentary about the food…. and she is notoriously hard to please. If I had to stay in a nursing home…. which I hope never to do…. this place wouldn't be that bad.

I would not recommend this facility to anyone! The staff are not trained, dismissive, adversarial, condescending and down right rude. My father had a brief stay here and the care was abhorrent. He was left unattended sitting in feces, had taken a bad fall and did not receive x-rays until requested or even a basic ice pack for swelling, received non edible food, had a call buzzer that did not even work and received horrible care! Furthermore, I personally was laughed at by nurses on duty when requesting that his room be aired out because he was sitting in his feces and smelled terribly. When I tried to call the facility there was never anyone who answered the phone and when I finally did get someone to pick up they provided horrible service and could not answer even the most basic questions.

The people working at this facility should be ashamed at the level of care they provide. This is not the place to send a love one if you are looking for quality care as the care here is almost non-existent.

This facility by far is the worse in the area, along with it's sister facility in Fairfax. Since not being owned by Inova the quality of care standards in addition to the standards of behavior by staff is deplorable. The Administrator Zoey is rude and arrogant and the staff turn over tells a lot about this company. They are moving to a new facility soon but the bottom line is if you put lipstick on a pig it's still a pig. Until they deal with the standards of care and staff it doesn't matter where they move it's still going to be horrible. My mom sat in her own waste for hours I had to come and change her. The call bells are always going off and the nurses walk past and ignore them. I had to help a man who had fallen and was screaming but no one wanted to help him. My mother was getting unauthorized services and charges on her bill and they did nothing about it. The one black lady in the business office who was trying to help me figure it out and actually returned my calls was there one day then gone they next. These people need to get it together and start restructuring from the top on down. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE IF YOU TRULY LOVE THEM. On the other hand if you are not that fond of them then this is the place to be!!

I spent 5 months in this facility, and it was one of the most miserable times in my life. On the plus side, I liked the food service, enjoyed the court yard, which was attractive, and found the physical therapy to be adequate. On the negative side, the lack of proper care provided by the CNA and nursing was alarming. I would have to lie for hours in my soiled diapers, and calls for help were repeatedly ignored. One particular CNA was downright vicious towards me; he deliberately withheld empty urinal bottles from me, even though I would beg him for the bottles so that I could relieve myself. He would come into my room at night to flip on the blindingly bright, overhead fluorescent light and walk out again, just to be cruel. Repeated complaints to the staff about the cruel treatment were ignored. Money was stolen from my room, and a package I ordered was "lost", and I received no compensation. Before entrusting your loved ones, or yourself, in this facility, I would definitely think twice.

It has not been owned by Inova for a couple of years. Inova sold Cameron Glen, and another one of their facilities in downtown Fairfax called Commonwealth Care Center to a company in Roanoke, Virginia called Commonwealth Care of Roanoke. Ever since Inova left, the standards of care have dropped tremendously. It has really gone downhill. One guy, who was on his death bed there told me they let him lie in his feces for hours, he pushed the call button, then they just come in, turn off the light, then leave. At night, there is only one CNA working an entire wing and sleeps. Windows are drafty and the rooms are difficult to move around in a wheelchair.

The most depressing and unprofessional facility I have ever seen. I have been managing the medical needs for both my mother and my uncle for over 2 years so I have been to many hospitals and rehab centers. This is by far the worst. The whole facility is old, bleak and dreary. Most of the staff either don't speak English or don't take responsibility for anything. The staff doctors can't be bothered to return phone calls. My uncle was here for rehab due to cellulitis with a open abscess. They took no special precautions despite the increased risk of infection. Sure enough, he contracted MRSA and then couldn't go back to his assisted living home. They had the nerve to charge over $400.00 per day even though they accepted responsibility for the infection. In addition, they allowed a bed to be placed in his path to the bathroom. He fell trying to get by even after I told them about the risk. This incurred more cost of x-rays, etc, It should be SHUT DOWN!!

    (Adapted not include names)

My mother was a patient for two months at Cameron Glen Health and Rehab Center and was discharged January this year. The purpose of this review is to thank all of the staff who helped make it possible for her to go home.

It is not possible to recall all of the names of the men and women who helped my mother; however, there are some who made a real difference in my mother's recovery. The nursing staff was professional, efficient, and so encouraging when tending to my mother. The Physical and Occupational staff made it possible for my mother to return to her assisted living facility. The Social Worker explained how the system worked and what I needed to do at each step of my mother's stay. She understood that this was a new experience for me and allayed my anxiety.

There were 2 nursing assistants who went above and beyond in taking care of my mother's comfort and hygiene needs. They did their job's in ways that kept my mother's dignity intact and were so very kind and compassionate while doing so.

Cameron Glen is clean, well-maintained, orgainzied with very professional staff. I am glad it was the one I chose for my mother's rehab.

This is a follow up to a previous review. 4 days after diagnosing my Uncle with MRSA, which THEY gave him, the attending physician finally deemed to contact us. He was arrogant, defensive, and we had to pry information out of him with a crow bar. It was obvious from the conversation that they had never screened my uncle who had been successfully recovering from cellulitis, for MRSA until a couple of days before he was scheduled to be discharged, even though his wound had reopened and was inflamed. How these people are licensed to practice heath care services is beyond me. They are the absolute worst I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Management is clearly interested only in lining its own pockets. A friend was placed there recently. Switchboard was never up to date on resident rooms or phone numbers. Staff are nasty, rude, and incompetent. Equipment for taking vital signs is unreliable, and problems were not addressed or corrected when I observed. Room was unbearably hot first time I visited despite his earlier requests to staff to adjust temperature; they evidently just turned it hotter. My friend was put in "isolation" (which is frankly a joke) and went drastically downhill in the space of a week as a result of (1) ignored side effects from an antibiotic administered for a supposed unspecified infection that, if real, was probably contracted at Cameron Glen; (2) dehydration; and (3) general neglect. He was fortunately taken to an ER, apparently in the nick of time. I was genuinely afraid he would die in that hellhole.

I'm not sure why the other reviews are so mean spirited but when I admitted my father to the facility it was a pleasure. The admitting staff answered all of my questions and were very helpful and polite. I talked with a few of the residents there and they all seemed very happy.

Once my father was admitted he didn't have any complaints and has told me the nurses there have been quite helpful and very nice to him.

Maybe there have been some changes since these other reviews have been written but our experience is definitely different from theirs'.

Worst place I have ever witnessed. If you want your loved one to DIE put them in the Cameron Glen HELL HOLE. The people sit in soiled diapers for hours, they do not keep people clean. Can't rest when they need to . Not enough staff. Drugs given without authorization and no doctors to be found or nurses to help. The place is dirty and they leave people for hours without help.

Do not put your loved one in this facility. The care is careless and people in the dementia ward are warehoused, waiting for death. Our family has asked at least 10 times to have the correct names of my aunt's family and guardians on her records, and it has yet to be done. The doctors prescribe medicine that doesn't take into account the real problem, and then are unreachable for background information that could help the patient receive the correct medication. In short, RUN AWAY from this facility!
