Staff are all hard working.
I feel that the nursing don't really care what happens to these elderly men and women. I feel that they think they are all going to dye anyway. But in reality they are our parents. I feel that they don't take things serious enough when something happens. They ignore the lights that go on in the hall ways. I feel they don't respond quick enough when something happens. I have such a low self imagine of most of the nurses there. I feel some of the CNA care more for these people.
I had an elderly parent staying at Silvertree recently. Staffing is inadequate: my elderly parent suffered two unexplained injuries while at Silvertree due to lack of supervision. Staff members are frequently surly and combative, quite likely due to being overworked because of the inadequate staffing. Staff was often unable to tell me what medications, and in what dosages, my parent had been given that particular day. I saw my parent's roommate activate the nurse's call button and then wait over 20 minutes for a response. The quality of the rehabilitation department is questionable and I strongly suspect they care much more about their monetary compensation than their mission to return patients to a high level of physical activity. The food, no surprise, was not particularly good, but I witnessed the residents often having to wait in the dining room for about an hour before being served. My recommendation is to find a different facility for your loved one either for nursing home care or even rehab needs. Silvertree does not seem to be a high quality facility, despite what their representatives may tell you.
Some nursing homes are bad and some are good but none are perfect. When I put my beloved grandma in the nursing home I felt very guilty and was very angry that I wasn't able take care of her at home myself. I want my grandma to have the best so if it wasn't perfect when I visit her I'd raise heck with everyone there. After going to therapy, I learned my anger and guilt was misplaced. When I accepted the reality of the situation and started talking to the right people things improved. Its better to be part of the solution than part of the problem. I love my grandma and I do know if I suspected she was ever mistreated or exploited at this location or any other nursing home I would not leave her there and complian…I'd move her to a safe place fast!
This place nearly let my mother die. The staff does not have answers to basic questions. I do not know who rated this Nursing Home a three star but the State recommended we remove my mother or she would die while under the care of the staff at Siver Tree. In two years they have had a number of staff changes at all levels, that was the first alert and now we are investigating if Siver Tree was taking unauthorized funds out of my mothers trust fund account. BEWARE!!!!!
IF YOU WANT SOMEONE TO DIE THIS WOULD BE THE PLACE TO BRING THEM. THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN BY THE STATE
