My father had an open wound to the bone that the nursing home facility did not make family aware of that was infected when taken to Emergency room on Friday 4/20/12.He was admitted to hospital and died Sunday 4/22/12 .Prior to being admitted to nursing home he was seen by a wound doctor and was healing well pictures were taken at office no open wound in photos nursing home said he came into facility with wound. When my father was admitted my family and I was told a wound specialist was on staff .He would be treated there. The Doctor who treated my Father in the Emergency room said the wound smelled as if it had not been treated. My Father was a sick man; this infection caused his life end sooner. Remarks made by doctor at hospital after his death he was too weak to fight infection we knew nothing about and was not being treated for. Upon requesting medical records found other things on 4/3/12 in Father's chart said he had a bowl infection nurse at facility said this was why he wasn't eating we were never told. Staff would constantly say he refused to eat again we knew nothing of this infection. Regardless if he had small time to live we were never given information that would have allowed us to let him live his last days in peace. My father complained often about the staff not really caring for him. On his way to the hospital he told the Ambulance attendant he did not like that place they don't care for you.
