The physical therapist personel are good at what they do. However, if the patient has any reduced mental capacity they will struggle tremendously here. All allergen information for mother with dementia recovering from hip injury was provided by family and referring hospital. Seafood,nuts, or cheese cause anaphylactic shock. On wed. she was served a cheese lunch. We stopped her from eating and brought it to attention of orderly and dietician. On thursday she was served a cheese breakfast. We stopped her from eating and complained to orderly and dietician and RN. On thursday she was served a cheese dinner. We stopped her from eating and complained to RN and Manager. If we had not had a family member staying with her 24 hours a day it is hard to perceive her surviving the severe reaction her allergies bring on in her weakened state. If your loved one has reduced mental capacity you will need to provide your own on site support 24hours a day.
