My mother has limited vision….so calling her is an issue…I put a private line into her room….only to have the staff turn off the ringer or place the phone out of reach…I then have to contact the nursing desk phone, which is rarely answered to correct the problem…..complaints to the main office have been ignored, repeatedly…..

I chose Kindred-Big Springs because I know people whose experiences there had been very favorable, and because the building looked and smelled clean. I have been well-pleased with my own experience there. The administration and Director of Nursing are very professional, yet very personable. They greeted each patient they passed by name. I am happy with the food and the therapy department . The main thing that has impressed me is the kindness of the entire staff.

My mother was a patient at Whitesburg Gardens for about 2 months and we were very satisfied with her results. She was able to walk out the door and return to her normal routine. The nurses, therapists and social worker was excellent by communicating with us and meeting her needs. I highly recommend Whitesburg Gardens.

My Aunt has been at Whitesburg Gardens since September 14,2011. The staff was wonderful in helping her to get adjusted to her surroundings. The nurses and therapists have taken excellent care of her. We have been so pleased with everyone from the Business office, social workers, nurses, therapists, and nurses aids. They have all been wonderful to work with us. I would recommend Whitesburg Gardens to anyone. Thank you all !

Rehab staff and facilities are good, but everyday care for loved one was not. Did not see much in the way of supervision of nursing and care staff and had no idea who was in charge. Would not recommend. My parent is now at another nursing home that is much better. Please do your research before placing a loved one in this center.

Madison Manor Nursing Home Madison, Alabama 35758

I give it a five star for many reasons. Prior to placing my mother into Madison Manor I checked out most of the Nursing Homes in the Huntsville, Decatur and Madison areas. There are some other facilities that provide well for their residents but many require that the resident is able to care for themselves and are mentally well (non-alzheimers'). Madison Manor is one of the oldest in this area but they keep their facilities up and the caregivers are compassionate and understanding. I am lucky my mother and the others are getting the care and love to feel more 'at home' than just a waiting room. If you have a relative in a nursing home please visit them. It will help make you feel better and it will certainly make their day. If you are looking for a place to care for that special person consider Madison Manor.

My great grandmother stayed here for a few days. The staff was so awful and mean that we moved her to another rehab facility. TERRIBLE place!

Staff took excellent care of my mother. Therapy department worked very hard to get her back to being able to do most things for herself. Very clean facility.

I visit South Hamton at least weekly and they are a wonderful facility that really cares for their residents. The facility is always clean and never an odor. They have a new family council and the members of the family council are very positive and very appreciative of all the staff. I have visited many facilities but will say this is the best in our area. You will be pleased to have your loved one in this small family atmosphere, we are very pleased to be here.e

this facility is not the place to take your loved one. management professes not to know of anything going on. they are unaware of basic problems and have little to no solutions but to pass the buck. having spoken to current employees the problem is ongoing. The management is the problem. be aware that you must force them to act for your loved one. Don't go!!

Most of the staff seemed knowledgable and caring, however, did not know how to handle dimentia and often ignored call outs for help. I arrived one day when Mom, who was wheelchair bound, had been left at the table in the dining room. Even though employees were around, when my Mom was saying, "help me" and "why am I here?", no one bothered to respond at all. I walked up and took care of Mom. My Mother's personality changed in just a few weeks from sweet and soft spoken to fearful, often sleepy, crying out and in pain. I am glad she is out of there…she is now in a place that is taking wonderful care of her and her needs are being met…and she is not being ignored.

My Mother was a patient there and died from dehydration and blood poisoning. Her care was horrible.
