A place. A "person". They pretty much broke the spirit and heart of a patient brought there for rehab and short term care.
If you have to deal with the business office, specifically the 'business manager', be prepared. One that has no couth, empathy, mannerisms to be in such a position.
I sat with my friend, a current patient at the time, in her office while she made a few calls that I assumed were concerning my friend. After about 10 minutes of talking and laughing with the person on the other end…while we sat there as my friend, the patient at the time, hung his head just totally broken. Not necessarily because they took everything he had. But by xxx'x very unprofessional, cold (ice cold), unsympathetic, unconscionable total rudeness. It infuriated me because I suspect this is the way she treats all the patients and or their families.
I understand that 'this' is a business. And debts are to be paid. But for God's sake, as well as the patient and family's sake, be humane and not ruthless and threatening.
There is a 'professional' way. An 'empathetic' way of handling the 'business' aspect at Mapleshire. And had I not seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. The LACK THERE OF. Unbelievable to me that this type of "badgering" and LACK THERE OF, of respect is allowed, business or not.
I could not fathom being that cold and disrespectful to anybody. Especially to those in such a vulnerable position most have not even chosen for themselves.
There you have it…a broken spirit, a broken heart, a broken human being…that passes away two days later…But, by golly you got your money xxx!!!
