At the time the patient had a Trach and Peg that she could not care for on her own, and they are the only place in the area that would provide that type of care. She was on short term side was worst off patient in the section by far. CNA's rarely checked on her or turned her every 2 hours as required by the facility. She was left to set in urine that soaked through her pants, and was given a wheel chair pad, that was soaked in urine that they refused to wash, the wheelchair itself (which was theres) was ruined from leaving the pad on and urine go between the pad and the wheelchair seat. When the pad was ruined they didn't have another one and refused to get her up for 3 days due to her being a fall risk. Saving grace was actually the midnight staff who knew her needs. One even told me how sorry she was that my mom didn't get the care/attention she needed because the people who were better off were always hunting down CNAs for meds and other wants. Also the Physical therapists were AMAZING. They were the people that saved the day, and would check on her and get staff to change her ect. when family couldn't be there. If rehab was needed and it was someone who was able to express there self and had minimal care needs I would say this place is good, but if they have even moderate needs I would try someplace else. It looks nice and clean, no idea about food. The activities staff was very nice and tried different things. Feel like long term care may not be good but I was never over there. Call lights would be on for a very long time, I know while there the call light in the patients room I was in went unanswered for over 30 minutes.

A place. A "person". They pretty much broke the spirit and heart of a patient brought there for rehab and short term care.

If you have to deal with the business office, specifically the 'business manager', be prepared. One that has no couth, empathy, mannerisms to be in such a position.

I sat with my friend, a current patient at the time, in her office while she made a few calls that I assumed were concerning my friend. After about 10 minutes of talking and laughing with the person on the other end…while we sat there as my friend, the patient at the time, hung his head just totally broken. Not necessarily because they took everything he had. But by xxx'x very unprofessional, cold (ice cold), unsympathetic, unconscionable total rudeness. It infuriated me because I suspect this is the way she treats all the patients and or their families.

I understand that 'this' is a business. And debts are to be paid. But for God's sake, as well as the patient and family's sake, be humane and not ruthless and threatening.

There is a 'professional' way. An 'empathetic' way of handling the 'business' aspect at Mapleshire. And had I not seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have believed it. The LACK THERE OF. Unbelievable to me that this type of "badgering" and LACK THERE OF, of respect is allowed, business or not.

I could not fathom being that cold and disrespectful to anybody. Especially to those in such a vulnerable position most have not even chosen for themselves.

There you have it…a broken spirit, a broken heart, a broken human being…that passes away two days later…But, by golly you got your money xxx!!!

This place doesn't even deserve one star! Call lights take forever to be answered. Certain employees work harder then other some sit and do nothing while others are running around doing everything. They run out of a lot of supplies because they are to cheap to buy extra. Their food is discusting

I would never put any of my family members in there all the people there are rude to their residents and residents also don't get changed or taken to the bathroom like they should please don't put your family in here

We toured the facility before placed our family member here. Everything sounded wonderful and we were assured our family member was in good hands. Our experience has been horrible. The best employees have left. It has been one thing after another. The problems are too numerous to list, but include not being given time-released medications on time, many prescriptions for antibiotics not being started for days or even a week, given the WRONG medications, theft, problems not being addressed/corrected by the staff, etc.

Do yourself and your family member a favor. Reconsider this facility. At the very least, go unannounced for a visit (not a tour) and note the general apathy of many (not all) of the employees. Note how many call lights are on for long periods with no assistance given. Listen for employees chastising the patients for soiling themselves. Note the employees walking down the hallways without even glancing in rooms to check on patients.

This place may be fine for those who can fend for themselves, but if your family member depends on help for daily functions…look elsewhere.

I have seen the reviews that some people have been posting. It makes me wonder! Seem like all the reviews are from Former employees who no longer work for this Facility, and that could be a GOOD or bad thing! For the families who are looking for a place for loved ones to be taken care of Mapleshire would be a great place for you! I have seen alot of great care done at this Facility, and would even recommend my family for Mapleshire! The nurses are wonderful, and do the best they Possibly can for the residents, and family members to ensure they enjoy the care/ living arrangement at Mapleshire! Management strives for making this one of the best caring nursing homes around! The nursing staff RN's LPN's, and CNA's are always there if you need them! They treat the residents of Mapleshire like its there family.

This nursing home needs to be shut down !! They are so cheap the aides have to work with no gloves or trash bags finding a brief for the residents is impossible they run out of food there they went a whole week with no sweet and low and gave diabetic residents regular sugar then acted shocked when there sugar was high!!! The management , DON , and RN's are all poorly trained and have no clue how to do there job . Do not put loved ones here !

Actually this nursing home doesnt deserve one star….I work at this nursing home and i have seen so many horrible things go on at this home in the past three weeks that i am currently looking for another job. i am not a quitter but there is so much going on that i know i am unable to change any of it. I have seen food taken away from residents because they take too long to eat. i have seen nurses wait two to three days to collect urine specimans or blood drawls on patients and the patient is twice as sick by the time the lab comes back. i have had to give cold showers to residents because the water was turned off for repairs and ever since the water is luke warm….(pretty sure this was done to save money). they have done cut backs in the kitchen and not ordered food. (for two days there was no coffee for staff or residents). the cnas are only there for the paycheck and they dont check the residents for wetness or turn them for bed sores. i have seen cnas sleeping on overnight positions. there are hardly ever wet wipes to use for cleanups on residents so they are getting sores from not being cleaned correctly.

you should have seen the fake show put on when the state came to inspect them….we actually got a bonus for acting the way we should!!! It doesnt do any good to talk to higher authority because they are the reason this home is so bad…This nursing home is well known for being the worst in Morgantown….

this is a really bad place you work your self to death for them and they treat you like crap. they treat the residents like they are nothing? also the management there are really bad and dont care about any one but there self. also if the residents are not done with there food they take it from them . all because they dont feel like sitting there waiting for them to get done. also they take the food down the hall with nothing to over it. they just all around dont care about any one or anything. They also love to harrsee there ex employees. if someone doesnt work for you anymore lose there number and go on with your life. i would not put a dog in there that is how bad this place is and i would not even put someone i dont like there either. so i would not even give this place a star but for some reason i have to. so take it from someone that haves been there do not put your family members there

Bad place to put your loved ones and also a worst place to work, the management are poor, believe me i work there, the resident don't eat their food because their food is bad,it does not taste good. Nurse aid takes care of 12-16 patient within 8 hours,Nurses sometimes give wrong meds to patient because they are overwhelmed most of the time.If you love your family don't send them down there.

This site would not let me give this center a minus (-) rating, therefore had to give it one star. Worse nursing home rehab. in the State of WV. No accountability on staff part. The nursing staff, (rn's, lpn's) do not guide or oversee the CNA's and therefore nothing is done correctly. They almost killed my family member several times with medication errors and bad nursing judgement. The Dr. there is not better.
