  • Woodhaven Care Center Monroeville, Pennsylvania 15146

My Aunt had knee surgery and had to be placed in a facility for rehab and IV's. She was not pleased initially with the first facility she was in, so we asked to have her transferred to a nearby facility. She expressed her concerns of getting quality therapy, so she could get back on her feet quicker and get back home. She was only there for approximately 3 weeks, and she honestly looked not only physically better, but look rested. She can sometimes be picky about her diet, because she is a very anxious diabetic, but the kitchen staff there, accomodated all her needs. The nursing staff was able to manage her pain, so that she could she stay on schedule to meet her therapy goals. And we felt so much better, when it was time for her to go home, because both therapy and the social worker made sure her home was ready for her. Thanks so much to the great staff at WCC.

My mother was admitted to woodhaven nursing home on july 18, 2014 she had bed sores all over her buttocks on both sides and if I wasn't there to look when she was being changed it would have gone unreported. Also, my mother has rectal cancer another incident when I was there sunday august 24th I noticed she had blood all over her hands, sheets and pajamas when I called for her to be changed and the diaper was taken off she had blood clots the size of golf balls coming out of her front opening of her vagina. I took pictures and marched over to the nurses station and demanded an ambulance immediately. She was very very weak. She was admitted to the hospital and was very anemic. Her surgery was postponed because of numerous urinary track infections from not having the foley changed.I had her removed from woodhaven and placed her in manor care in Monroeville following her discharge from the hospital. If I had not acted in getting her out of woodhaven she would have died. One nurse told me when I came to get my mother;s belongings that the staff doctor told her not to get an ambulance. If you love your loved ones please do not have them admitted to woodhaven. My mother gets excellent care at manor care. I will be filing charges against woodhaven!

My Mom is currently at Cedars of Monroeville and I am not pleased withthye care she is receiving. Some meds were not given to her and many were late. I would not recommend this place at all. I have returned to work and I cannot stop wondering if she is being cared for. I may take another leave of absence to be sure of her care while she is there.

The new management at this location is nothing to be desired while they recently removed all of the previous management in order for this new communistic group to take over the whole building. It's almost as if they have their own little cult forming and their future plans definitely do not include the concerns or happiness of the residents but they do have a financial profit agenda in which I'm sure they will more than over exceed with their new monthly charges. I used to refer everyone to The Cedars but those days are long gone. Elderly people do not like or deal with change very well and with everything going on in this place for the last several months, I've watched some very stressed and upset residents deteriorate more quickly than I think they would have without this added stressful situation. It's very sad that these last years of their lives have to include such poor health and mental exhaustion from worry about things they should not need to worry about. You get my double thumbs down Cedars!

Woodhaven was a horrible place. It would take them at least two or more hours to answer call bells with the family in the room. They would not take my mother to the bathroom which caused her to have incontinent episodes. many times she had to change herself because help would never come. She ended up falling one night trying to take herself to the restroom because they did not come to help her and it resulted in the beginning of her demise. Also they never informed us about issues she was having with her swallowing. She was also having heart issues that we were never told about. When we moved her to another facility a few days after her fall which resulted in a broken foot, the other facility noticed that her pulse oxygen level was in the 80's which meant that she needed oxygen. I just wonder how long she went like that, I know that she told us that they never checked it at woodhaven. She ended up going into the hospital a few days after we had moved her because of her low pulse oxygen level and slow heart rate. She died at the hospital. When she was at the hospital we found out that woodhaven had known about her heart and swallowing problems for months but had not informed us. My mother was only 57 years old when she died!
