The staff is quite nice and helpful. Our mother-in-law was admitted there on Jan 5, 2015. We lived across country and did not get here until a few weeks later. When we arrived, our m-i-l was near catatonic. We initially thought the staff was harming/ robbing her and made allegations to that effect. Authorities were called and the staff immediately began helping us investigate the matter. We discovered that two family members were causing the harm - bringing food that would make her sick, feeding her lies about her being abandoned to die, and actually stealing from her. M-i-l's estate is not large by normal standards, but she does have more wealth than the rest of her family combined and they have always resented her for being thrifty when they were too busy doing drugs and wasting their lives doing stupid stuff. The staff not only helped us get the police involved, but they put safeguards in place to protect our m-i-l. The staff also helped us take the proper staffs to get protective orders.
We arrived two weeks ago and our m-i-l has gone from cathartic to being mobile, aware and in a better mental state. We are now working with the staff to bring her home.
I am not in the habit of giving high ratings and vacillated between giving them 3 or 4 stars, but whatever they lack in other areas, they more than compensate for with their genuine caring of patients. Two weeks ago we thought they were mean to some patients, but after being there every day, we better understand. Despite some patients constant yelling, I have yet to see anyone being short, cross or abusive to them. In fact, the staff has helped me and our 16-year old become more compassionate, which is a great thing. I have even seen improvements in m-i-ls roommate, someone I initially thought was brain dead but who clearly is aware of her surroundings. We can't wait to get out of this place, but we are so thankful that they are here for us during this time of need.
I would recommend this place to someone who has a family member in need of rehabilitation. The staff cares and works very hard. Our 16 year old is brain-injured and required considerable intervention on his way to (1) saving at life at age 11 and (2) winning the 2014 Sonic Trivia National Champion at age 15, so I do not make this recommendation lightly. Finally, I am Harvard educated at the doctoral level, so this could be considered an educated opinion. Thank you.
