Upper East Side Rehabilitation and Nursing Center New York, New York 10021
They are short of staff, short on supplies and if you ask them for a diaper, they say that they have to go downstairs because there is no diapers on this floor, the staff are extremely lazy and they do not care about none of these patients, they just care about the money!!! He was admitted at 6:00pm on September 16th,2017, so why the lady who was assigned to him, comes in here close to 9:00pm when her shift is almost ending, if I was not there, he would have been soaking in pee?!!! So the next day on September 17th,2017, my uncle is there with my grandfather, and the first thing that he notice is that my grandfather is drenched in urine, they did not change him at all and he also notices that its cold in the room but my grandfather is drenched in sweat and he is having difficulty breathing, my uncle literally had to go off and get mad, and it seemed like they didn't care, they did come though. so they take his vitals, the lady named Grace, that took his vitals slips and say "this equipment is always broken, doesn't even really work." checks his oxygen "97" ,but he is in pain so they gave my grandfather "Morphine", they do this thing when it is time to give medication they ask you to step out of the room for some reason, made me wonder if they are giving the correct medication. So my sister, his other granddaughter ends up coming to see him, he looks worst than before, his body is cold to the touch but he is still drenched in sweat and his breathing has gotten worst, so my sister calls the nurse and tells her, all she says is that she is going to call the" supervisor", supervisor never came or called back. To find out there is only 1 doctor there at this facility of 400 patients, my sister asks for the doctor and they say "he is feeding somebody right now" this whole time they keep saying oh he looks fine to me. My uncle from the beginning kept on telling them that something is wrong with his father but nobody didn't care or listen. So my sister ends up calling "911", the EMT shows up, they check his oxygen, and its "78" like are you kidding me?! The entire time his oxygen was "78". Grace his nurse lied and said she noticed this at 6:00pm, she lied because my uncle kept saying something is wrong from this morning. My grandfather was suffering from a Cardiac Arrest this whole time and this facility did absolutely nothing!! The nurse was literally running out the door with her purse and jacket leaving to go home and not caring!! If my sister was not there, no 911 would have been called. My grandfather was rushed to lenox hill hospital, they did a x-ray on him, you couldn't even see his lungs because there was so much fluid, to find out he had gotten pneumonia, the hospital gave him a C-PAP machine, he started throwing up, suffered a seizure and unfortunately passed away yesterday night on September 17th, 2017! I blame this facility the cause of my grandfathers death because if they would have rushed him to the hospital in the morning he definitely would have had more time being alive and us spending more time with him! If you care and love your family members, I highly suggest and recommend that you please take them out of this facility! This facility and the whole entire Staff, Doctor, and Supervisors does not care about these patients at all, they do not check up on them, they neglect all of them, they mistreat them, abuse them, disrespect them. So if your family members are still alive, take them out of here! This is not a place for nobody to be in! THEY NEED TO GET SHUT DOWN!
Village Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center New York, New York 10014
VillageCare Rehabilitation and Nursing Center claims that it is a place where patients receive recovery care to prepare them to return home. If that is truly the case, then why are many patients sent back to the hospital during their stay at VillageCare? VillageCare does not call 911 to transport patients back to the hospital, as this would affect their rating. VillageCare transports patients to the hospital via private ambuluttes, and there are delays in transporting these patients which delays the proper care, etc. There are many other issues with VillageCare which can be found on various social media sites.

My stay was far from wonderful. I must say Marie an aid on the eleventh floor made my stay so much better. She was the best, I just want to make sure you know what a blessing she was, is. I hope you realize what a plus she is. Thank you. Kenneth Wall

To give this dump a star is too much!! My mom, an individual who couldn't stand on her own "got out of bed and fell" (information told to family about her accident). These people kept her drugged from the time she arrived until we removed her from this hell hole. As a individual who grew up in Harlem I am shocked to know that places like this is still in business. The better business bureau should look into the care of this place. If you are seeking care for your family member PLEASE don't come to this one!!!!! I hope this helped you cause if there were more reviews about these sort of places then we wouldn't have put our mother here for her rehab.

Poorly run with negligent nursing staff. I developed second stage bed sore on the heel and despite my complaints, the problem was ignored. The rehab staff is very good but that does not make up for this troubling institution. Their paging system is blasted into your room and if that doesn't keep you awake, nurse's aides bursting loudly into your room during sleeping hours deprive you of the needed rest. Staff members have private business interests; the front nursing desk will steer you to the nurse's boyfriend who for a sizable fee will drive you to your doctor's appointment. The social worker hawks her private rehab business, as she appears in your room all gussied up and flirtatious. They may be understaffed but on top of that is an attitude of non-caring, to the point that you are robbed of self esteem. Requests for assistance are acknowledged and then ignored. The few decent aides will advise you that to get care, you must assert yourself. I came for help to recover from debilitating surgery, and I got an assertive training course.

We had a nightmarish experience at this facility. My 92-year-old dad was admitted overnight, and in the morning no one knew where he was. When I went there to find him, I had to look around and finally saw him slumped over in a wheel chair, very sick. No one was helping him or me. I called 911 and had them take him out of there. EMS agreed that it was a terrible place and it was good that I had called. So, so sad and heartbreaking. He said they threw him around like a rag doll, and I'm not sure he ever slept in his bed.

My 88 year old godmother was admitted to Mary Manning after she shattered her ankle last July, requiring 2 surgeries. She is still waiting (It is now December) for the nursing home to fax the required paperwork to her insurance company so that her claim can be processed. The insurance company has contacted the home in writing and by telephone since August, and I have spoken to social worker, supervisor of social worker, medical records department and the administrator who tell me "they are looking into it" My godmother just received a notice that if Mary Manning doesn't get their paperwork in by Dec. 15th they will drop her claim. This is appalling!
I feel very sorry for elders who don't have advocates. This is routine paperwork- nothing out of the ordinary. How can they treat patients this way?

Mary Manning Walsh is a wonderful nursing home. I had such a great experience at that place. The nursing staff is friendly, attentive, and professional. Rehab floor is the state of the art and all the rehab staff (PT/OT) is the best I have found in my life experience. I benefited with the short term rehab program greatly and walked out of there in 2 weeks with all the strength that I had lost during my hospitalization. I would definately recommend this nursing home.
The Riverside New York, New York 10024
My parent was sent to the Riverside Residence at w. 87th st. in Manhattan for rehabilitation. The staff routinely ignored my parent, refused to clean the bathroom, which reeked of urine and feces. My parent was denied medical care, denied access to their medications, ignored, refused transport to a hospital for blood sugar soaring over 450. When called, the physician on staff claimed to be too busy, in charge of many floors. He referred to his patients as "beds". He said "do you know ho many beds I have?" My parent died as a result of utter neglect. Sending your relative to this facilty is ust like sending them to the morgue, with an unpleasant detour.

I recently had the misfortune of spendng 4 weeks there for rehab. It was under reconstrction had been for months which was to continue until Oct. Drilling, sawing, dust flying everywhere, no hot water for my entire stay also NOBODY ever came in to dust the room or wash the floor, place was filthy & should be shut down by the board of health. Food was inedible, nurses either totally forgot or were over an hour late with medications. The PT area in the C level also under construction thus little to no equipment available, also too many patients in too small an area so both the OT & PT unable to function. Fortunately I was discharged two weeks early & survived or they certainly would have killed me in that place. How sad that it once enjoyed such a fabulous reputation as now it seems that money & profit are the only criteria as my room was re-occupied with hours of my departure in an ambulette which I pad for in order to escape.

This place is dirty and the staff is not helpful when it come to your love one. Do not put anyone you love in this nursing home.
The New Jewish Home, Manhattan New York, New York 10025
My mother-in-las is there. The care was good when she entered about 8 years ago. Now she is left to lie in her own filth.
Village Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center New York, New York 10014
This place was absolutely horrific. From the first night my grandfather was sent here, the nursing staff was beyond neglectful and so much attitude with simple requests. Although the facility may be newer and seem nice, the nursing aids and the admission doctor on the 4th floor was pathetic. We would ask them to check on simple things or help to clean my grandfather and would have to wait sometimes nearly an hour. My mom noticed something was wrong with my grandfather at one point and asked the doctor in charge to take a look at him and she told us to go and get someone else. Turns out he had a bladder infection and his heart rate dropped to 40. Apparently having a clean diaper all day means that the patient is doing well and regularly going to the bathroom. He ended up back in the ICU. Absolutely awful and please please for your loved ones do not send them here! The nursing aids name was Jacob and his partners were practically asleep on the job. Below 1 star!
Village Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center New York, New York 10014
This place is just average. The PT services are good, but the nursing staff are a bunch of idiots. The sixth floor nurse is deranged. She's always fighting with aides. None of the aides are polite and they yell at patients at night. Very disgusted since this place was supposed to be thebest in NYC. They screwed up medications several times, gave the wrong reports several times. Drs there are incompetent in general. They need to get their act together.
New East Side Nursing Home New York, New York 10002
What a wonderful nursing home. The Staff is top notch. Its a small 58 bed nursing home and my mother was at the facility for 4 years . Sadly Mom passed but iknow that she was in a warm and loving environment. Thanks to New East Side for all your hard work
Village Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center New York, New York 10014
Very impressed with the PT and OT services. All other services such as food, aides and cleaness are average. One complaint is that social worker never returned one single phone call and was never available from numerous voice messages from Thanksgiving to Christmas during my mom's 2 month stay. I felt the need to address this online. So frustrating!
Village Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center New York, New York 10014
My father has been at this facility for two weeks and we are not happy. This is his third rehab in a year (those places were not so great either BTW - Gouvener and Hospital For Special Surgery Rehab) but this has been our worst experience by far. There is absolutely nothing for anyone to do at this place except p.t. or o.t. My father has mild dementia which has worsened considerably since he was admitted here; not only is the staff cold and indifferent to him but they offer absolutely no services for people with dementia; no conversation, no groups, not even a video played for patients in the main living/ dining area. The rooms are no at all restful and there is no communication with staff members regarding patients. If your love one has dementia, skip this facility entirely. We are trying to transfer him elsewhere before is medicare runs out.
Village Care Rehabilitation and Nursing Center New York, New York 10014
What can I say that is positive? The staff was nice and helpful but the communication and follow-through of orders from doctor to doctor and facility to facility was almost non -existent. The facility is understaffed, especially at night when patients who are supposed to be in rehabilitation are left at night to their call lights not being answered.
There was no one on the floor to assist patients who are new at using their walkers to help them get around and to and from the dining room. So some patients will sit all day other than during rehab time.
I am not sure I would recommend this facility to others.

TERRIBLE ELEVATORS, LAZY NEGLIGENT AIDES & NURSES, NICE NUNS
The New Jewish Home, Manhattan New York, New York 10025
Our family's experience was mixed. We met some expert care givers whose work and compassion deserve praise, and these people gifted us with their skill and care. On the other hand, there were basic lapses in care, communication and billing that haunt us.
Communication was haphazard and incomplete and added enormously to our family's stress as we scrambled to figure out how to get the care our father needed. We regularly got half answers and experienced missed appointments, which would have been alright if those were just glitches on the way to full answers and information. But they weren't. Be prepared for this kind of experience.
