Review of Pheasant Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center

1 Star User Review

I spent 6 weeks at Pheasant Ridge recovering from back surgery and a severe diabetic reaction. Generally the nursing staff was competent and pleasant, though there wera two notable exceptions (rude, arrogant, and generally disinterested) among the 11 pm to 7 am staff. The CNA's (Certafied Nursing Aids) were a much more mixed bag. Some were wonderful, but many were either just going through the motions to collect their paychecks or just plain bad tempered with poorly concealed contempt for the patients. Physical and occupational therapists ranged from competent to quite good; therapy was the primary asset of the facility. Food was the biggest negative. Even granting that institutional cuisine is rarely better than mediocre, the food at PR is dreadful. Meals are served at 7 to 8 am, around noon, and at around 6 pm. That means a very long time between dinner and breakfast, which can be disastrous for a diabetic. Also, a long list of available substitutions is claimed, but in actuality they boil down to PB&J, pimento and cheese. and BLT (bacon was undercooked) sandwiches. In short, it's not a place I would choose to go again.
