I wish I could give less than a 1 star review. The people here are rude, disrespectful and the care is poor. The finance department is either dishonest or completely inept.

Autumn Care of Chesapeake is the absolute worst. Do not put your lived one here. My dad was her for only 2 weeks and he got worse while he was here. First night here the nurse came to us the next morning saying I'm sorry I forgot to put your dad on his bipap . Well it didn't stop there. They ended up forgetting to give him his oxygen resulting them to call 911 non responsive and almost died. He is still fighting for his life in ICU after 8 days in ICU. Do not send your loved one here. This place shouldn't even be open. Staff is also very rude and unkind. And uneducated.

A zero is given across the board. The worst facility to ever consider putting a love one in. I wouldn't allow them to take care of my dog. Don't do it. Run, run, run.

My mom stayed for six months, the staff was rude for the most part, except for the tall dark haired male nurse, he was polite and helpful, not to mention my mom loved his care. It is great to see we still have good buses in the world. Facility was clean and smelled good, no urine or feces smell. I would recommend this facility.

The facility was clean, and that's the only positive thing I can say about the place. The one star rating is almost too much. But a zero star raring would probably be for a POW camp.
It's a very negative environment, particularly in the unit my Dad was in. Most nurses/CNAs there were rude and made it quite obvious that they did not want to be there. Not that I could blame them. It was hell on my family trying to get straight information and civil answers from the annoyed unit staff.
Communication throughout the facility and with the family was terrible. Rarely did they seem to know what was going on. "Don't know nuttin 'bout dat", was a common response to most questions. The admin side did not pass important information to the unit. The unit had no knowledge of my Dad's upcoming discharge a day and a half before the discharge date.
Multiple items of clothing that we brought from home and labeled disappeared, never to be seen again, $4000 pair hearing aids, gone, despite efforts we made advising the staff of the importance of their care and in maintaining effective communication with my Dad. This negatively affected Dad's progress in physical therapy sessions. The staffed treated the matter like it was a lost pair of socks.
We could not get my Dad out of that awful place soon enough.

My 90 year old mother was involved in a car accident and hospitalized for 2 days for ankle surgery. Since she did not have a 3 day stay, she wasn't eligible for Medicare to pay for rehabilitation. My brother and I took her home to recover,, but quickly found that we could not provide for her care properly.
We contacted the administrator at Chesapeake Health and Rehab Center for assistance. He had his admissions team contact us and helped us get the orthopedist and family physician to provide the paperwork necessary for a private pay admission. This was impressive because we were not able to get the physicians to cooperate. They obtained hospital records and we got her admitted at 4:00 pm on a Friday.
The rehab team started working with my mother that day and every day for the 30 days that she was there. My mother and I were extremely impressed with the professionalism and the friendly manner of the rehab team and everyone we came into contact with. My Mom felt like she had new family members from the first day until the last.
Mom commented that the housekeeping staff always took a little time to visit with her as they performed their duties and she liked the interest that they showed for her condition and personal needs.
She even enjoyed the food. claiming that it was almost as good as home and certainly 100% better than hospital food. She looked forward to each meal.
We would recommend Chesapeake Health and Rehab Center to anyone needing skilled nursing and/or rehabilitation services. The staff were great and my mother recovered and is functioning on her own at home again. Thanks.

I would not recommend this facility due to the lack of professionalism and uncertainty of leadership/management because as having a family member who was previously there I am not sure who to speak with due to the facility changes leadership/management like people change shoes. The overall building is old and has a leaky roof and I have even seen bugs at the facility. I feel if there is no real true leader than that is why the customer service and overall care is horrible. Before, you place a love one in there make sure you tour and not just check out website because on the website everything looks great but in person it is not at all the same.

All of the nurses were on time with the medications. The nursing staff was just wonderful and they worked great as a team! Therapy was fantastic once again. This is my third time here and it was my favorite. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

This place is very well kept. I would recommend this facility to any of my friends!

Limited experience with nursing homes, obviously, but in observing operations for approx four weeks I am very distressed. Most residents are vegetating and not engaged. They are "evaluated" with …. "what day is it?" while for almost every elderly resident there is no difference between a Monday and a Friday, there is no group interaction except maybe 2 times a week when there is ice cream and cake for an hour, no current events, no newspapers or news, no physical activities, no reading clubs, no crafts, no outside activity….
It is a newer facility and well appointed.
Kind of a guilded cage to my mind.

I would rate this facility higher if I could! I felt like everyone was family to me. I highly recommend this place to everyone! I'm glad I can come and exercise. Everyone has been nice to me including you. (Sara, Discharge Assistant)
Sincerely,
Carrie Perryman

My dad has been at chesapeake for serveral staysover the last two years. they have always given him outstanding care. Their rehab dept is second to none. I would recommend this facility to anyone needing care from caring people.I read some of the poor reviews and wondered if they talked to anyone at the facility about their concerns. The staff and administration has always beed very responsive to anything I have brought up. This is a great facility.

I have volunteered for Chesapeake healthcare for a long time now. The faculty has been nothing but clean and the staff very friendly. The residents always have games to play or crafts to make. I would always recommended this facility to people looking to have there loved ones taken care the way you would take care of them at home. Just all around a great facility.

My father at the age of 54 passed away in March due to sepsis that he aquired post surgery in Chesapeake Rehablilition and Nursing Center. I am currently in my search for answers as to why this happened and what part this disgusting place played in his deterioation. I saw things in this place that really rubbed me the wrong way. Obvioulsy you will be super critical of any place that your loved one will be living, rather it be permanent or temporary, but this place just made me sick. Do not put the person you love here!

My family member was in Autumn Care of Chesapeake for about 20 days. I visited her several times while she was recuperating. The place was very clean and was beautiful inside. The unit she was on was very attentive although at times, she did have to wait about 15 minutes to get help to the bathroom. There was a time when the water for showers or baths was a little on the cold side for her, but after a couple days that was fixed. The rehab staff was fantastic and also very attentive and caring. Overall, my family member was very happy for her short stay.
Autumn Care of Chesapeake Chesapeake, Virginia 23320
My mother was here for 1 month. The problem with her care at this facility was that there was no communication with each new shift of people. There were many mistakes regarding medications and she was rarely bathed (hair was never washed). Many of the people were very nice but it seemed terribly mismanaged! Lastly, she was given drugs that were meant to keep her passive and out of her mind. This would be the facility's doctors decision. It has taken her a month to get it all out of her system.
Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center Chesapeake, Virginia 23320
My dealing with this home has been extremely unpleasant. I would never put a loved one here. The staff seems nice and friendly and will tell you whatever you want to hear. the nursing staff will act, some of them, as they care but in the end they really don't care. Mind you there are a few who genuinely do care but they are few and far between! Think long and hard before using this place!
Autumn Care of Chesapeake Chesapeake, Virginia 23320
This place is Heaven on Earth! The entire facility was designed, built, and staffed with the resident's well-being in mind. My Mother suffered through two other nursing homes before becoming a resident of Autumn Care of Chesapeake. She has gone from a shell of a woman, wasting away in abject despair, to a happy, smiling human being. The policies, activities, and physical set-up are all conducive to a healthy, humane, life and lifestyle for the residents.
Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center Chesapeake, Virginia 23320
This facility is disgusting for any human being to have to stay for any period of time! My mother was placed here for a short period of time and during a two week span she was rushed to emergency 3 times for falling and low blood sugar. This last time makes it number four and she has a broken hip requiring surgery. Do not let your family members go to this place if you care for them in the least!!!
I think this place needs to be shut down. I even believe that they may have made her condition worse than when she came in….
Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center Chesapeake, Virginia 23320
the worst ever no one knows how long therapy, or the patient is waited 15 minutes to be able to talk to my relative
Chesapeake Health and Rehabilitation Center Chesapeake, Virginia 23320
I cant see how these health care providers can get away with such bad treatment.I would not put my dog in here. You must have some family member there to make sure they are getting the right care. And check behind the nurse.because they do not tell you the truth.
