Review of The Courtyards at Pasadena

1 Star User Review

I would highly suggest finding any possible alternative prior to settling for housing a loved one at The Courtyards at Pasadena. The staff is unresponsive at best and often rude, if they can be located at all. Call lights go unanswered for hours at a time. Residents are left to sit in their own waste as the staff fails to respond to calls for restroom or bedpan assistance. Staff also never seem to be on the same page or be well informed of the patients needs. There is a near constant stench of urine (and worse at times) that permeates the entire building. "Housekeeping" usually consists of taking away the trash. Some people that may be able to afford to have a private caretaker or family member sit with their loved one for hours at a time to make sure they get proper care at this place, but not everyone is so fortunate. We thought it might just take a couple of weeks to get adjusted, but that has not been the case. This place is only about making money by billing any way they can and nothing about providing actual care. They will try and sell you of course at admissions, but don't be taken in. Run far and fast from The Courtyards at Pasadena.

Yes and how about a patient on hospice care, and then put on continuous or what some call crisis care. How long does it really take for getting the staff nurse to get the pain medicine to that patient less than 15 minutes. Hopefully they wouldn't have to wait that long. How about the nurse whose afraid of narcotic pain medicine, and the patient left to suffer. Or because they're unhappy about someone advocating for the patient then they have that person "blacklisted" not to return because they didn't like that person all because s/he had to request 2 or 3 times for the nurse to medicate the patient for pain, or restlessness/anxiety. The State ought to keep a close watch of such place with surprise inspections, and talk w/some of the residents and guest hospice people, especially continuous care staff to get their honest input. Beware of administrative retaliation though.
