Review of Walnut Place

1 Star User Review

My mother was admitted to Walnut Place under Hospice Care. She had developed an acute UTI and her vitals were grim. She had been in a deep state of Alzheimer’s for years. She had lost her teeth, her eye sight, and her memory to identify anyone. She could no longer walk or dress herself or feed herself. Her food is processed to mush so that she can eat and her liquid is thickened so she will not choke.

We discussed her condition and quality of life with the doctor while she was hospitalized with the UTI, and decided with love that it was time to let God and nature take its course. To bring her healthy to live the life that she had lived for years was selfish, and not in the best interest of our mother.

The minute she arrived at Walnut Place, the doctor (whom we had not met) immediately started my mother on a plethora of medicines… antibiotics, insulin (and my mother was not even diabetic) antidepressants, blood pressure meds, etc. He brought her back to a healthy state of vegetation claiming that he never saw her ‘do not resuscitate’ document in her chart.. when it was clearly there and legal. All he had to do was turn the page. By the time we realized what had transpired, it was too late, she had rallied and was healthy.. The decision was no longer ours to make.
