2 stars out of 5 because the deficiencies are:
there are nursing staff that are liars and bold face about it, the current director is now aware and maybe trying to correct that. a client fell and the family was NOT notified and only after 3 or 4 weeks did the director himself admit the the client had broken their arm. so information is withedld from immediate family. they were not bathing that same client stating the client had the right to refuse bathing so the family member was bathing the client instead of the nursing home staff. the nursing home staff did not have the client personal care done either. the family member had to do that as well. the food at times could not be cut with the metal fork and knife without bending the fork trying. too tough to eat needless to say. the same bad nursing staff will not give out the director's number for the client's family to complain to and so the police had to be called in.

If you are looking for institutional white and institutional impersonality, then Silver Pines is NOT the place. It has an old fashioned "feel," not just because the walls are painted colors, but because the staff -- nurses and nursing aides -- KNOW their clients. The nurses and aides talk to the residents, recognize the resident's individual "quirks," and adapt their approaches to accommodate different personalities. The ones I work with when I visit are nice to the residents and treat them with caring respect. My father is known by his name, by his condition and by his "quirks." When I visit, I see smiles, I hear laughter and I smell nothing (which all the how-to books say is a good thing). Every visit I talk with many residents who call Silver Pines their "home." If you are looking for a place for a person you love to be treated with humanity and respect, Silver Pines is a good place to consider.
