Review of Oakwood Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center

5 Star User Review

My mother was recently a resident at Oakwood & I can't say enough good things about it. Let's get real, nursing homes can be depressing & there's no getting around it, but, as far as the care my mother received I can't complain.

I took her there during her late stages of dementia when we had no choice & as far as I'm concerned she received the best care possible under the circumstances. The staff was very approachable & understanding & took care of Mom almost as well as I could have myself. It's not easy to care for someone who keeps removing her clothing & doesn't understand anything, but, I think they did a good job. I had taken Mom out of another nursing home where I found her sitting with her pants down below her butt in a pool of urine & a staff who didn't seem to care. The staff here kept her clean & odor free which made me feel very relieved. They tried they're best to get her to eat, but, she resisted & I understood they're frustration, but they never treated her badly.

Unfortunetly I had to put Mom into hospice care & she didn't last very long, but, the nursing staff worked with hospice to make Mom as comfortable as possible until the end.
