Review of Avamere Crestview of Portland

I would not recommend Crestview to anyone, my father was there recently after he had surgery, he got physical therapy while he was there, which was fine. But they are real slow to respond if a patient needs help, especially on the evening & night shift, My Father would turn on his call light for help and it would sometimes be 30-45 minutes before he would get help. The same thing happenend when he asked for pain meds. Some of the nurses and aides that were there treated him well, I just didn't think it was a very good experience for any of us. Next time we will look around before we ok a nursing home.

Please advocate for the Oregon congress to get a bill to mandate staffing ratios for nurses and med aides. Currently there are only laws stating how many patients a nursing assistant can care for and even for them it is still a lot. Imagine this if you can. A med aide can have more than 30 sometimes 50 patients to pass meds too! If you think about the fact that they are all due for meds at one time, what do you suppose will happen? The same is true for nurses. If a nurse works on a skilled hall meaning more acute patients and has 14 to 15 at one time, to pass meds, IVs and treatments and supervise staff, take in new admissions, paperwork and of course there are always emergencies..just please make your concerns known to Oregon government. Thank you!
