Review of River Trace Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

The medical care is provided by a contracted medical service that provides doctors to nursing homes and it sucks. River Trace nursing homes RN's do not observe and react to patient's health that decline over the weeks' time. If you get worse between weekly Doctor visits, if you live until the next scheduled visit the dr will treat you. The weekend nurses will not call the doctor on call if they don't know if the patient has declined in health by their observation and they haven't seen the resident in 7 days. Congestive heart failure my mother suffered, I knew what she had and the nurse said I haven't seen her for 7 days so I don't know if her condition has changed or not . I insisted she call the Dr on call who is one of the rotating contracted dr. that only advises over the phone, never comes to see the patient in person, ordered blood work for sodium level and since that had not changed, they did nothing so my mother suffered for 4 days and was gasping for breath the entire time. I did not know at that time I could insist she be sent to the Emergency Dept. and they would have sent her. when dr finally saw her on Tues. he immediately ordered 2 lasik shots in her hips and doubled her daily lasik doseage. RN on another occasion told me mother was exergerating her pain after having something pop in her back, she went numb from the waist down within 30 minutes. I insisted they send her to hospital. Took 4 days for nerve healing before feeling came back and she could walk a little. Medical care sucks here, its seems to be a holding area until you die.
