They do not deserve one star. My grandmother was in Central Island Healthcare for rehab…..what a huge mistake. She aged 10 years since being there. Each time I saw her she looked worse and worse. They claimed the doctor had seen her and she was fine- she was never checked by the doctor. She had thrush that was never picked up, she had a rash on her back from never being moved, they suspected internal bleeding- but never did anything about it, my grandmother lost 7 pounds in one week- never looked into that. When my mom called the social worker for CI she hung up on her when my mom showed displeasure toward the facility. When my mom demanded a colonoscopy- they continued to push back the appt. Finally, my mom said she wanted in writing that my grandmother would make it to that appt and wouldn't die in their care- they quickly moved my grandmother to Plainview Hospital. Once she is discharged from that hospital she will NEVER go back to CI. I wouldn't send a mouse to that facility. Disgraceful, Horrible these are just a few of the words to descibe this place. If you place a family member in this facility you will loose them.
