My 96 year old mom just died from Urosepsis secondary to an untreated UTI. The one she acquired because she was either sitting in stool for extended periods of time or being cleaned in a haphazard manner. God only knows how long she had the UTI. But what is obvious is that she had it long enough to become septic. The nursing staff is either incompetent or they just don't care. My mom was also dehydrated. I had to insist that she be transferred to the hospital. The nursing supervisor was trying to not send her. By the time she was transferred to the hospital my mom was pretty much on her last breaths. Do not put your loved one in the care of these people. Not to mention that my mom was on Hospice and just where in the hospice guidelines does it say a UTI should not be treated? Overall, I would say that the staff in this facility is really an insult to the health care industry. Being in the industry myself. I would be embarrassed if one of my patients went to the hospital with Urosepsis. But I guess they just don't care. Things need to change with the Long Term Care industry. I feel so badly for those who don't have family members to speak up for them. Schervier Nursing Care Center failed my mom miserably.
