Bottom line, Merwick still has a long way to go to dispel the feel of a facility still in training. Our loved one received erratic care from an understaffed facility. On one hand, we were told that our loved one needed to drink more fluids yet every time we came to visit (at least twice per day) there was either no liquid or none in reach in the room (our family member could not walk independently to get a liquid). Requests for assistance took forever to be answered usually. Hygiene standards are often ignored which we believe led to an infection which required a move to an acute facility. Ice is kept in a cooler with a scoop which anyone's dirty hands could contaminate. Nurses need to take ownership of their jobs and lead by professional example. Lip service is paid to high service standards but not achieved. Go somewhere else for care.
