Review of Grove of Evanston L & R, The

1 Star User Review

This was without a doubt the most horrid facility I have ever had the misfortune of sending my loved one! This was not our first choice when my grandmother had a stroke a year ago but it was closer to us so that someone was always with her. ALL that glitters isnt gold. Sure they've remodeled and painted. Just to keep up appearances. Once you hit the elevator…the 2nd floor and up smells like nothing but urine. They leave residents lying in they're own filth until the family requests that they be changed. Not only that but the staff there is incredibly incomptent and unprofessional monsters. They give out the wrong medicine, solid foods to stroke patients under liquid diets and are very lax with therapy schedules. We were there for 3 and 1/2 weeks after harassing the mentally challenged administrator and head of PT before we could even see ONE therapist. I would advise you to not even contimplate sending anyone you care about to this place unless you can spend all day everyday there ensuring they're proper care and safety. My sisters and both my mom and dad practically lived there for those long 2 months. Its sad when the residents who've been reduced to live there have to whisper to you once the nurses walk away that " this place is terrible and get to get grandma out now". This whole building just needs to be demolished completely. There's no potential for improvement. When you have staff that dont care paired with administration that wont care you end up with The Grove….

This Facility has really changed around. I call it the New Grove of Evanston. They have a new Director of Nursing, New administrator and brand new therapy program. I am writing this because i just had and incredible experience there with my loved one and think the new staff did an excellent job turing this place around. I was very cautious in the beginning after reading your review but i decided to tour and check it out for myself. They are even keeping in touch after we got discharged.
