Review of Pruitthealth - Brookhaven

5 Star User Review

My dad was there for 4 weeks to recover from a stroke. He mostly needed speech and occupational therapy. Of the three facilities we looked at around the Northside Hospital area, this was our number one choice. Seemed to have a higher staff to patient ratio and was cleaner and there seemed to be more activities going on--patients outside their rooms interacting. The staff is friendly and particularly kind to the patients that I observed and they tried to accommodate our requests. Sometimes they were slow getting back to you, but I'm sure they are busy. We've been pleased and would recommend it for rehab. Don't know much about the longterm or permanent care facilities.

The one negative for my dad was that the speech therapist assigned to him had a pretty heavy foreign accent. For my 81 year old, hard-of-hearing father, it was not a good fit. I think she thought he made less progress, but he couldn't always understand what she was asking. I wish I had asked for a reassignment--this was the one area he really needs help with--the stroke effected his memory and speech mostly. I think he will improve under home health care now.
