Review of St. John of God Retirement

My mother has been at St. John of God for less than 2 weeks. Initially, everyone I spoke with had great praise for them. I visited them, and found it to be a clean and inviting facility. Since she has been there, I sadly discovered that they have no phones in the rooms, or music, or televisions. My mom has been left to lie in bed and stare out the 2 windows in her room. (No, this was not explained to me beforehand.) They are also remodeling, and her room is in an empty wing. They claim to have a cordless phone for the patients, but on the 5 occasions I've tried to reach her, it has taken over 20 minutes. I also thought this would be a great place since they a Catholic service each Sunday, which my mom could attend. I also requested this. When I called at the end of the week, they said they may not have a wheelchair for her so that she can attend mass…at which point I asked, surely you have wheelchairs! I've also been told that they have a new administrator, and they are understaffed. I even asked our local Hospice to intercede on her behalf, and it took them over 12 hours to reach ANYONE there by phone. Even they were shocked.
