This facility may be OK for somebody that needs therapy after surgery.
If you have an elderly relative who needs a lot of care, this is the wrong place to go. My Mother was here, and the poor care was a factor in her death. I was there every day as well as other family members. It was almost impossible to get the required care. We were unable to see the doctor who was in charge. They said she did not meet with family members. We had to bring in an outside medical team to get help for my Mother. We did seek legal action, and were successful. We believe that no living person should be treated the way that my Mother was treated. Our pets get better care than the Heartland was ever able to provide for my Mother.

I was at this facility for both hip replacement surgeries and therapy and nursing care was excellent. I have been to other facilities and think that people who think this place is bad really do not know what is available and they have not really compared rehab centers. I know I got excellent rehab and went home in 21 days. I also know everyone treated me and my family with great care during the entire stay. Rehab is not a country club it is a workout to get you where you need to go-home. My goal and Heartland's goal was to get me home.

My father died at this facility under the 'care' of Dr Baum. He should not be a doctor. My father had COPD and this doctor never provided him medication for this illness. He died because he stopped breathing thanks to this doctor and his staff. So sad that we trust these 'professionals' to take care of our loved ones.

Heartland of mentor is a terrible place altogether.the aides have to work there asses off because they are always short staffed and the nurses do not help them at all. the patients do not get the care they need or deserve because there is either not enough help or they jus dont care. and for the aides who do care .get 0 respect even tho they are the ones doing most of the work. i strongly suggest do not let loved ones be here.

DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES TO HEARTLAND OF MENTOR! The care is extremely poor and patients are not properly attended to. Different nurses everyday who don't update each other on the patient's condition and the response of the employees is unacceptable.

My mother was in this supposed "rehab" facility and I wouldn't send anyone healthy to this place. My mother who has dementia and had a broken shoulder was only there to help in the care of her broken shoulder as my father couldn't take care of her with the break. She fell out of bed twice there to the point where we had to ask if they had any type of alarms. She was a fall risk already and they had alarms and didn't think to use them until after 2 weeks and 2 falls?? Insane!! The nurses there are a joke, the aides work their behinds off and then get blamed for everything. The doctor sits high on the hog making money off the ones who are sick and those that aren't as long as he can give instructions to keep the beds full. BEWARE! If you elderly loved one wasn't incontinent before they may be when they come home. Don't send anyone that you love to this place!!
