Review of Southwestern Nursing Care Center

I am a nurse with years of experience and have been in MANY SNFs in this region. Recently, my father was a patient in the nursing center at Southwestern in West Mifflin and I was very pleased with the care he received. The staff was warm and caring: the nurses were very professional and knowledgeable, the rehab staff (PT, OT, Speech) were compassionate and competent, and the CNAs were diligent in checking/assessing needs regularly and conveyed genuine concern for the patients. Call lights were answered promptly and the facility was very clean. Smiles and warm greetings were abundant as one passed staff members in the hallways. We had only one instance when a staff member seemed annoyed/ put upon when a family member made an inquiry - but this was one instance in 3 weeks. Overall, based on our experience, I highly recommend this facility.
