Review of East Neck Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

1 Star User Review

I usually try to find the good in things, but this Nursing and Rehab Center is absolutely horrible. Not only have the nurses and staff engaged in loud arguments with each about the patients in front of them, they argue with families, who in my opinion, know better about their loved one's conditions than the nurses do. Several times, I have found my grandmother COVERED in scalding hot coffee because nobody was paying attention to her. She is unable to feed herself, and we were promised that the nurses would feed her. After three weeks, my family has to coordinate visits with meal times, because the nurses leave my grandmother in her room with the food, and refuse to feed her. I once found her IN her food because she was trying to feed herself and slipped into it because nobody was assisting her. The Physical and Occupational Therapy is an absolute joke as try to scare my grandmother into cooperating rather than just trying to help her. Patients go ignored, and I have been there several times where the nurses were actually yelling at the patients and calling them liars over things they were telling the truth about. We were also promised stimulation for my grandmother as she gets lonely there, but we always find her left by herself in a hallway or her room (She is very weak right now and can't move herself, so we know she was wheeled to a spot and left). My grandmother's mental state has worsened because of her stay here. Please, if you love your family, do not let them come to this center. We are trying to get her out, and she knows she is not getting help there as she cries and begs to be taken out.

I absolutely agree. I am so sorry to hear about your Grandmother's current health state as well as this hell whole she has to "live" in. My Grandfather is currently there for "rehab" because he can't walk. Has been there since the thursday after Easter and the second day he was there absolutely no one knew where he was. It took about 15 mins to find him. As well as, the constant yelling at my Grandmother, the fact that they don't bring their patients back to the rooms: especially when they know that their relatives are waiting for them, they get upset when they actually have to do their jobs. My Grandfather's PT assistant had to take him to the Barber on the third floor yesterday and almost shit himself bc I wasn't allowed to, nevermind actually knowing where the place was. Every other day, I find him sitting in the Day Room, at a table by himself, bc they can't walk 2 rooms down and actually bring him to us. Its like we're mind readers. I absolutely hate this place. I cry almost every single time, I drive home from there. It's a mental institution, it really is. Especially the second floor.
