if you love your family keep them far away from this place. We had no idea what the place was all about but moved my mom there in a pinch for st vincents was moving her out. well it was a nightmare and my mom has not been the same since being there.. No trust in any place she goes now. thank s worcester rehab and athena. You hire idiots including fred the nurse. He should have gone into working in a mortuary. horrible bedside manner . just horrible

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Years ago this place used to be good. Not now. If you love your loved one do not allow them to go here. There is only one way to describe it a shit hole. The management is well aware of the stuff happening hear due to all the complaints from residents family members and yet they do nothing about it. Most of the staff is lazy and so rude. If I wouldn't have been arrested I probably would have slapped one for the lies. She looked like an ass.

Please do what is best and avoid this facility for your loved one. Thank you.

Also the state seems to be more concerned if the residents like there food then the quality of care.

Filthy facility. Smell of urine as you walk through. Residents left in corridor in own body fluids unattended. Inadequate staffing. Very little professional care. Residents left for hours crying to attend bathroom. Very little or no security at any time.

The paint is pealing from some of the walls, there is absolutely no hand sanitizer anywhere to be found, which seems VERY strange, and residents are crammed into a room together, three at a time, so that they have almost no personal space. Oh, and the residents' laundry just disappears, so the staff have to scramble to find clothing for people (clothing that does not belong to the particular resident) . That said, most of the staff are excellent--the one exception is the director of nursing (Kim L.). She's extremely condescending and does not listen to other staff who voice concerns, nor does she care about family members. She really needs to be fired. Seriously

A terrible experience with this facility. Nursing staff did not read chart when my mother was admitted. Information did not appear to be shared among staff. A family member found my mother gagging on food that should have been more thoroughly ground. Patients were left for very long periods of time unattended. Nursing staff did not seem engaged with the patient on a personal level. Case worker was not helpful.

Mice in the room, caregiver used her long nails to rip up my mother's arm, food is terrible, they don't answer patients beepers for bathroom assistance. Bed sores allowed on patients until a family member sees them and tells them about it. Clothes stolen, you arrive and your loved one is sitting in a diaper and shirt. Wallet stolen as your loved one is dying. Your loved one will die from abuse and neglect in this place before their age or ailment gets to them. Sad. This place needs to be closed down.

A very hostile work environment. Discrimination of any and all forms is tolerated and accepted as the "norm". People who truly care about what they do don't stay there longer than a few months because the environment is simply toxic. I would encourage everyone to seek employment elsewhere.

My husband has been at Kindred since 2009. The staff, including maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, when they see me with Tom has a smile and a hello for us. I am there 7 days a week, have visited on all shifts (before I go to work) and no matter when I check in on him, he is the same. The peace of mind knowing your love one is being taking care of, especially since you have been together for a life time, and have to place him in a nursing facility, doesn't take away the pain, but it makes it a lot easier to sleep at night knowing he is safe. I felt the need to rate this nursing home because I know it works for me and my husband and I say me because I have always been treated like family.

Like so many nursing facilities it's a smoke and mirrors operation……..watch your loved one's back and watch the "Social Workers" If at all possible, stay away from this joint.

When we first started looking for a place no place was good enough for our Mom. Over time and visiting many many places and talking with lots of people we decided on River Terrace. Mom has been at RT for about a year now and they continually prove to us that we made the right decision. It's not a fancy place but staff at every level continue to impress us with their professionalism, kindness and care. Within the past couple of weeks that I have been here at Oakwood, the nursing and rehab and all the staff here has been great. The building is nice, clean and comfortable. Patients, residents and staff are nice to talk to. Entertainment in activities has been very good and enjoyable.

One of the most difficult decisions we had to make was placing my mother into a nursing home. I am so grateful we found the "Reflections Unit" (dementia/ Alzheimer's) at River Terrace. I am there everyday and continuously impressed with the extraordinary care given by the staff. It is a 20 person all woman unit with a good patient to staff ratio. They understand each persons needs and customize their care to the individual. The staff truly cares about the patients, it is more than just a job to them. I feel fortunate we found a place with such a highly qualified staff. I know my mother is in good hands - I see it everyday. I would recommend this unit to anyone challenged with this disease.

My husband has been a resident of the Kindred Oakwood Nursing & Rehab. facility since May of 2013. Honestly, his insurance brought with it limitations as to where he could rehabilitate and this was the second place he took up residence (the first facility was not what we expected). My plan was to move him closer to home after a month or so of rehabilitation for his,long term care, as allowed by his insurance. Almost 4 months later needless to say my family is very satisfied with the care he is receiving at Oakwood. I did not and will not be moving him from this facility any time soon.

Reluctant as I was to follow the recommendations of room placement for my husband from the Admission Director, I soon found out they know what they are doing at this facility. His placement was perfect for his needs.

His rehabilitation which includes speech, physical and occupation therapy has been superior. The therapists, nurses, aides, administration, kitchen and maintenance employees are all dedicated to their work and shown much interest and compassionate to all the residents and their families. I would recommend that this be on the top of your list for consideration for yourself or loved one needing rehabilitation or long term care.

My children and I also love the setting, away from the maddening crowd. Go see for yourself.

Reflections has become a safe haven for mom to dwell.

I am grateful for the care that has been provided for mom on a daily basis.

Care that I could no longer provide within my home, care that could not be managed within an Assisted Living.

Mom and I are given the freedom to enjoy our relationship on a mother daughter basis. I tried the role of caregiver but was overwhelmed within a year and this was with having outside help.

Kindred has become a safety net for us as a family. They have help us in getting the professional care that mom needs, meanwhile I can still provide the love and outings for mom several times per week.

I looked all over Worcester County and stumbled upon River Terrace/Kindred

not really thinking this was the place for us, until I met the Reflections Program Director and discovered their homey Reflections Unit.

We can finely be at peace knowing mom is getting the right care as we love her through the process of her Alzheimer.

This is my third time at Hillcrest. I have been here for a few weeks this time and am so happy with the care I get cannot say anything negative at all. Even the food is delicous! One time I wasn't too happy with my eggs and they made me fresh ones right away. They even have Diner Days where they set up the Dining Room like a diner and have belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream; and also have BBQ Fridays outside with the best potatoe salad. My family knows that I will only come to Hillcrest.

My dad was a patient in the short term wing, the care he received was wonderful. He is not the easiest person to deal with and can be very demanding but everyone was very kind and patient to him. He actually said that he is where he is today because of the care at Hillcrest. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is that the patients are allowed to smoke 4 times per day…..he had tried to quit and started again after he stayed there.

My mother has been in the Alzheimer's section of the Beaumont in Northbridge, MA for just about 2 years. The staff has been very accommodating, have shown a great deal of patience, and have worked so closely with her as she adjusted to her new living arrangements. I feel a sense of peace knowing that she is being cared for with such respect and quality care. I have recommended and continue to recommend this facility to anyone who is considering placing a loved one in a community where they will feel good about the care they are receiving. I know there are people (and one of the reviews left by someone about understaffing relates to this) who might walk in and find that their loved one needs something. That can happen at ANY time, and it can happen MANY MORE times if your loved one was home without having a one on one person with them 24 hours a day. As with any location (home or facility), things may never be absolutely 100 percent perfect, and staff can be doing all they can 99% of the day for your loved one, and then suddenly that ONE time you show up, something like having to help take them to the bathroom may come up. You will find this ANYWHERE. I have had both my parents in a couple of different places for short term rehab, and I can say without a doubt that the Beaumont is exceptional in comparison to any other place I have seen. I would challenge anyone to come close to what they offer here, and trust me, I am very picky. - Karen V.
