Male relative was admitted to Leewood for rehab care post surgical proceedure. Patient is continent, yet placed in diapers. Several calls to nurse ignored by staff. Feeding tube allowed to become blocked from lack of flushing, no alternate source of hydration offered until we insisted on IV fluids. Patient often left in the dark without working lights or TV. Medication certainly was not given since feeding tube was blocked. Fall resulted from being ignored after call bell was pushed. Patient needed to use the bathroom. He ended up having to urinate in the trashcan since he was teathered to the bed by the IV and suction bag. Patient tripped on the trash can spilling contents and falling to floor. Staff denyed incident. Confirmed with roommate. Requested transport to ER for decreased mental status. Transport was delayed more than 5 hours. Ended up taking our relative in our private vehicle where he was found to have bruising on his knees, elbows and back along his spine. Pressure sores also present after only 8 days in this facility. DO NOT SENT YOUR LOVED ONES HERE !!!!! Some kind nurses, most are unskilled and ignored this patient. Condition worsened while in their care.
