I have a parent that has been at this facility for 6 months. I have been continually concerned about the lack of attention my parent has gotten at night due to the overload of patients each CNA and nurse are given. I have been told that a single nurse has 44 patients and CNA's can have the 15-20 or possibly 22 patients. when the facility is understaffed. It is frequently 10 pm or after before my parent, who is completely invalid is changed and cleaned up for sleeping. My parent is in the bed most of the time and the only time he/she is moved is at the time of changing. Dinner is served anywhere between 6:15-7:45 and my parent is usually changed before dinner time and then has to wait until being cleaned up for sleeping at 10:00 pm. This is not acceptable. After watching this situation and turning in complaints and then not seeing consistent improvement, I feel that it is not fair to the staff or the patients. This is a difficult job and the staff work hard but they have a breaking point and I have seen that it is often the patients that suffer. This is a tragic time in these peoples lives and it is cruel to be ignored or scolded for needing assistance because the expectations of the staff exceeds what is humanly possible from them. The state regulations may only be this staffing ratio but they obviously have no idea the time needed to care for each patient and give adaquate care when dealing with invalid patients.
9:00pm-7:00am has become the most difficult and restless rather than peaceful and restfull time for my parent.
