Review of Hillspring Health Care & Rehab

2 Star User Review

I am reviewing the skilled nursing part. The facility is nice. The rooms are clean and homey. The staff work hard and, I suspect, do the best they can. The problem is that they are really, really understaffed (and the official report bears this out). Only 1-2 aides per hallway. If a patient pushes the red button to ask for something, it may take a staff member 20 minutes to respond. (Understand, I'm not criticizing the staff, but the fact that there aren't more of them.) And if you live out of town, having your parent or loved one here is very difficult, because the staff don't consistently return phone calls or emails. If you ask for something medical (pain medication, outside dr. appointment, etc), you need to follow up 3-4 times to make sure it really gets done. I think this place is good for rehab and physical therapy, but it is way too understaffed for skilled nursing, especially if your parent is not in a position to manage his or her own care.
