To be honest Adkins Care Center was not our family's 1st choice to place my grandmother. Our family had chosen another facility in the area and we were not pleased with the care my grandmother received. A good friend had suggested to give Adkins Care Center a chance because she had heard some good things about the facility. I trusted my friend's opinion especially since she is a LPN and works in the area. I can say I was apprehensive when I arrived. The building is old and it doesn't have all the nicer things that other facilities in the area have. However, when we looked past the cosmetic outward appearance we realized that they had everything they needed to take care of people and their needs. The inside decor is very nice and the place smells clean. That was a big thing for our family. If the facility smells clean then the people they take care of would have to be clean!
We were very happy with Adkins Care Center. My grandmother was well taken care of and most importantly loved. The staff there took the time to get to know us and my grandmother. Everyone tries to work together to help. It wasn't uncommon to see management involved with the day to day tasks (actually see them outside of their offices) . I felt comfortable asking questions and everyone helped as best as they could. The nurses and Aides were very attentive to my grandmother's needs. I would recommend Adkins Care Center to anyone. If you can get past the fact that this facility doesn't have all the perks and outward beauty of other places and understand that it really is about the quality of care that your family member needs then Adkins Care Center is the place to go. They actually care… you feel it when you are there and it shows.
