Today is Feb 2013. I was very, very disappointed at the care at all levels. What may have been a good rehab center in the past is now disgraceful. They almost killed my friend the first day at this facility. After being released from the University Hospital 5 days after c2 neck surgery, she entered in good shape. They (some doctor at Drake) changed her prescriptions, adding a maximum(and incorrect) dose of muscle relaxant (for no reason, as she did not have this prescription at the hospital). The day staff at Drake paid NO attention to the obvious serious and life -threatening side affects. It was very difficult for family to even find what she medications she had been given.
The day staff showed NO concern. They would not contact a doctor. They did not tell us until later that a doctor was present at the facility. It took an argument to have her blood pressure taken. On a smaller scale, it took an hour for a nurses aide to help clean up the patients vomit. Many call lights in the hall blinking and generally apathetic and late to help patients.
The night nurse DID pay attention and was helpful. I hope enough to rescue us from disaster.
I wouldn't send a dog to this facility.
