Since you’re reading this you are right where our family was just a few months ago… you need to help someone find a skilled nursing facility. If you’re near Raleigh you’re in luck… get to Kindred Care on Sunnybrook Drive in Raleigh.
Our hope in sharing this info is to help others avoid some of the unnecessary difficulties we struggled through by selecting the wrong facility. The stakes are literally life and death and these places are not all the same.
End of day get to Kindred Care on Sunnybrook Drive in Raleigh. All the hospital will give you is a piece of paper with a list of names and a generic website for Medicare scores. Make no mistake and get things in motion while you confirm what I am sharing. Based on over 40 days at Kindred Care and 100 plus days total in facilities, this very direct recommendation is based on pure experience and results.
I’m taking the time to share this as they earned it and people need to know to come here. Most facilities care up to the point their corporate HQ allows them and commonly will make decisions not in your best interest. Kindred genuinely cares about the person and it shows.
We were more difficult than most - our loved ones health is very challenging and it comes with anxiety and fear for the entire family. The type of in-depth care needed is demanding in the best of times and Kindred’s staff cares and continually proved it. Not talk – action. Kindred Sunnybrook assisted in more ways than we knew to ask. They took care of the entire “us” through numerous medical setbacks as well as accomplishments.
The Director of Nursing is exceptional and has been there for over 20 years. She sets the tone - we experienced friendly, calm and caring staff in every department that were never too busy for us. From the admin staff to the rehab team, aides and nurses – all are compassionate and engaged. You’ll see the same staff all the time – I can’t even say how important this is… The team is committed and professional and will make the difference in the recovery.
In full disclosure the building itself needs an upgrade – but you’ll get over this quickly as they make up for this tenfold with the nursing services provided and the rehab team. Many places are designed to make visitors comfortable but skimp on back end with the residents. Kindred are completely focused on their patients – once you see this you won’t mind the chipped paint or room with a common bathroom. Between the care and the home cooked meals and made to order breakfast twice a week your loved one is well taken care of.
Kindred made a very positive difference. We learned some hard lessons and lost time and health but were fortunate to end up at Kindred -The RIGHT PLACE with the RIGHT STAFF is absolutely critical to how things will go.
