Review of The Hamptons Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing

My mother's experience here was HORRIBLE! Her first roommate fell during the night and the alarm went off for more than 20 minutes before help arrived. She was rushed to the hospital with a head injury.

My mother fell trying to get out of bed and into her wheelchair (she was permitted to do this). The aide that helped her screamed at her for falling, and the fall was not reported until I mentioned it the next day to physical therapy.

My mother showed the obvious signs of an infection--four days before anyone would listen to us and have a doctor see her and provide antibiotics. At that point, my mother was in such poor shape, she never recovered--and died. She was at the nursing hom for rehab purposes only. Before the infection, there was great promise she would return home.

No one at this facility takes responsibility for anything. We asked for a PRI report from a nurse. She told me the doctor did that. We waited for the doctor for two days who told us that the social worker did the PRI. Of course, this was on a Friday, so had to wait until Monday to talk to Social Worker--who then told me she didn't do the PRI--a nurse would!!!!!! Five days and I was back to square one again.

When my mother got the infection, she had trouble swallowing. A therapist/nutritionist visited her for more than 35 minutes and decided pureed and soft foods would be necessary. Two days later, a ham and cheese sandwich on rye bread were delivered for dinner! No communication at all between the different departments at this hellhole.

I could go on and on. Run--run fast from this place.
