Review of Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation

1 Star User Review

A family member who was a resident at Grayson Manor was placed on new medications by a psychiatrist who visited the nursing home. These medications had side effects that made the family member's behaviors worse. They became more restless than usual, more combative than usual, more agitated than normal and would stay up all night, due to insomnia and sleep most of the day, another side effect of the medications. When asked the name of the psychiatrist who prescribed the medications, administrative staff would not give the psychiatrist's name, stating they did not know her name, but that it was a female. Come on…a psychiatrist is not going to visit a facility and no one on staff not know the name of that psychiatrist. Also, the care plan for the family member was gone over and what was discussed was not followed through on. The MAs still talked very loudly to the family member, which served to agitate them more. The family member's bedtime meds were given before dinner was served, this was requested to be given at bedtime instead of before dinner, but this didn't change, it was still given before dinner so the family member usually was half asleep during mealtime, not wanting to eat. If you can't follow through with care plans, do not play lip service to what you think family members want to hear and then do nothing. The only reason I gave a 1-star rating is because there was 1 MA that really took note of things that bother my family member and did her best to make sure no one else did things that agitated the family member. Otherwise, I would have given it a 0.
