Review of Signature Healthcare of Buckhead

1 Star User Review

After three months of "Long Term Care," our family member (on the fourth floor, the only one that has not been remodeled) continues to miss medications, get wrong dosages, not have meds ordered on time, and consistently waits for very long periods to be changed or taken to the restroom. One CNA is responsible for 11-12 people per shift. There is prejudice here…the entire staff is either African American or Affrocentric. Caucasian residents are subjected to hateful comments, less care, extreme attitude and little understanding of their conditions…by SOME staff members. Some are better, but there is a palpable resentful attitude with some evening shift members (worst here). State report is next action.

While we are deeply saddened by any of our customers who may have had a less than positive experience here, we take process improvement seriously. We are consistently striving to provide better care through quality improvement and process improvement programs.

Your concerns seem to be about remodeling, medications, waiting time, and “prejudice.”

Remodeling: We work with our corporate office in beautification planning. We are still in the process of updating some of our facility rooms and grounds.

Medications: All nurses are trained in proper delivery of medications. If a nurse makes a medication error, the nurse receives corrective action counseling and discipline.

Waiting time: All of the staff members have been trained to answer call lights as expeditiously as possible. Staff members also help one another with teamwork to become more efficient in attending to patients’ needs.

“Prejudice”: Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead is located in an urban setting. We are staffed by a diverse group of employees from many nationalities. We attempt to build on the values of the spirituality pillar, embracing diversity of ethnicity, cultural backgrounds, and religious beliefs. Most diagnoses seen in the long-term care setting cannot be said to be specific to any one particular ethnicity. Training is given in the new-hire orientation process and in periodic educational opportunities called inservice training. Sharing your perceptions of the views of ethnicity will help us provide further education to our employees on diversity and valuing one another.

Prior to state reporting, a neutral person who could be of great assistance to you is the Ombudsman who will be glad to address your concerns. While family members have a choice in placing their loved ones in a facility, we appreciate your selection of our facility as the place to care for your family member and allowing us to continue to provide care for them.

Sincerely,

The Management Team at Signature HealthCARE of Buckhead
