I've just had a three day nightmare with the SNF in charge of my dads care. I've been there for most of the days and frequently nights because no one has checked on him for 6 hours at a time. The only way to get assistance is to identify the problems, (can't clear out phlegm, moaning continually in pain) and try and get help. Have to admit Dad's difficult. He's dying and is frequently disoriented, can't hear and rejects meds until he's in crisis. But I have to be there to identify a crisis and call for help. For $11,000. a month I hoped for better.
