Review of Bay Village of Sarasota

5 Star User Review

I have had grandparents, a Great Aunt and Uncle, and now parent at Bay Village. Their residencies at Bay Village have spanned many of its years of existence. All five of these individuals considered/consider it a wonderful place to live. All were/are happy there. The cost is not cheap, but residents are screened before entering to insure they can afford to live there. (Unfortunately sometimes an elderly person looses their ability to understand and take care of their assets, and consequently mismanages their assets before another family member is aware of the situation. Legally, Bay Village can not intervene if the elderly person is an independent resident.) I have found that the cost of most extra services (beauty shop, items in the gift shop such as cards, meals for guests of the residents, rooms rented to guests of residents for overnight stays) to be slightly less expensive than the same services purchased outside Bay Village. My parent's apartment is more than large enough for my parent's needs. The kitchen is modest, but very adequate. I consider it to be a VERY appropriate kitchen for my parent who chooses not to cook anymore (but certainly could if they wanted to). Housekeeping does an excellent job keeping it clean, and is always willing to focus extra attention on any area of concern (my parent's home was never as clean as their BV apartment). Maintenance always responds promptly to any request (hang a picture, change a light bulb, move some furniture). And, there's always things to do: places to go. I am sorry that some other reviewer has been so unhappy with their family's situation at Bay Village, but it has been excellent for five of my family members!
