Ther are some very serious issues with the caregiving at Azura and I would never recommend the facility to anyone! My father fell out of bed the second night he was there because no one came when he called and he had to go to the bathroom! We had to hire a sitter at night because we felt he was unsafe otherwise. I spent 6-8 hours a day there with him because there was such a serious need to advocate for him. The call lights were going constantly, the average response time was 15 minutes or more. He was on a special diet but was being given things he wasn't suppose to have because there seemed to be very little communication between shifts and staff members. I had to ask many times about doctors orders because 8 hours after they had been written, no one had followed through with them. There were also some very concerting issues with the competence of the nursing care. They passed a lot of drugs and rarely assessed the patient after giving them. One nurse had no idea he had a dressing on over his chest tube wound after he had been there for 4 days. I walked in to his room one day and there was a piece of paper stating that he was to be taken to the hospital for a test and no one could tell me what for!

5 days after he was admitted a nurse came to me and said that all of his admission paperwork had been lost and needed to be done over again! My father ended up having a severe drug reaction to some pain meds they were giving them (which should never have been given together) and 911 had to be called and the paramedics had to take him back to the hospital, which ended up being the best thing that ever happened to him which was to get him out of there. Yes it is a beautiful facility, almost like a resort hotel but not the place to go to get well.
