Review of Fircrest Convalescent Hospital

I give this a 1 star and if there was anything lower, that would be my vote. My 97 yr old grandfather was left to lie in his bed all day, only getting up to eat. They put him on a pureed diet which wasn't fit to eat and so he didn't. The only reason for this type of diet was because he has dental issues - they said it was his "swallow". That was not the truth! In the 4 months he was there he lost over 30 pounds. We brought him home with us to live out his life (which they told us would be less than 6 months) and in 1 weeks time he is able to walk with his walker and eats meals that I prepare with small, soft bites. He has started to regain his stregnth and weight and the RN we brought in to oversee his care sees no reason that he will not live quite a bit longer than the 6mths Fircrest gave him. We are convinced he would not have survived much longer in their care.
