Review of Copper Ridge Care Center

4 Star User Review

The care I received after my hip replacement was outstanding. The staff seemed to be there because they genuinely cared about what they did. It seemed to be a calling and a profession with them, instead of "just a job". The food is terrible, but hey…I went there to get better as quickly as possible and both the physical and occupational therapy staff were outstanding. They were dedicated to what they did and approached my exercises and occupational rehab classes with smiles and good humor, even when I was not eager to work. The nursing staff was kind, compassionate, and human in their approach. Call bells were answered in a timely fashion, even in the middle of the night. This would be a 5 star rating if the food had been better. EVERYONE who has anything to do with food prep needs to taste the food before they send it out and be FORCED to eat the food for their meals at least 3 times a week and pick up their meals from the cart of the last room served. Food was cold, tasteless (come on - a little salt in the pasta water will NOT affect anyone's sodium limit for the day) and overcooked at best. The menus looked great on paper, but the kitchen wasted good food that ended up in the garbage from lack of skill or caring. Cooked breakfast cereal was either stiff as concrete or runny and needed a strat. French Fries? Awful! Throw directly in the trash without serving them. Cold. Undercooked. Greasy. Chicken? So overcooked I couldn't even chew it. You really need someone with some expertise who enjoys food to oversee your kitchen staff. If you want people to get well, or be happy with where they live, fix the food. My roommate and I survived by bringing in our own salt, pepper, cinnamon and talking the kitchen out of some brown sugar. The activities department have a good handle on it. The variety is good, and they are creative while working within their budget. I've been on both sides, both as a patient and as a performer and I can only say positive things about them. They always have the residents out for my performances and have them in an audience and performer friendly atmosphere.
