  • Oak Brook Health Care Center Whitehouse, Texas 75791

My mother was 82 when she arrived at Oakbrook. I was told Oakbrook was the best and good luck on getting her in. We had no problems getting her in…Private Pay. My mother stayed there for 3 years. In that time…I had to constantly watch her care givers. They kept diapers on her for 5 to 7 hours at a time. She was not able to walk but could transfer until seasoned aids twisted her leg and broke between ankle and knee. The last year she was there..her cast was on for 8 months…the hoist they used to lift her to a wheel chair disintegrated and she fell from the top of the hoist to the floor…when they called the manufacturer.. they said it should not have been put through the dryers. She died of a bed sore about 5 inches in diameter that went sepsis. I had moved her to another nursing facility the last week of her life but I was too late in doing so…kept thinking since I lived in Whitehouse and all nursing homes were the same…I thought I could keep an eye on her. I buried her with the cast still on her leg. Employees come and go every month. I can't remember how many times I went to the Administrator asking for help in taking care of my mother. January 3rd 2015 she died from a bed sore that kept ripping open every time they turned her over. Their food was terrible. After her being moved to a different facility…I am ashamed I did not get her out of there sooner. So many other patients are there with no family looking after them. I can only imagine. Use your judgment wisely. This facility is not the same as it once used to be.
